Events Experience
Month: June
The Midlands Air Festival, held at Ragley Hall Estate in Warwickshire, is a spectacular aviation event. Filled with family-friendly fun, it is a fabulous weekend dedicated to all things airborne. The festival includes classic air displays with incredible aerobatic demonstrations, aerial ballet, and parachute display teams. There are also display aircraft that range from classic jets to helicopters and warbirds. And weather permitting the unquestionably popular Royal Airforce acrobatic display team, the Red Arrows.
The hot air balloons are a huge draw and there are usually five mass assents throughout the festival. These start on Friday evening and end on Sunday evening. Here in the UK hot air balloons can only fly during the early morning and in the evening when the weather and wind conditions are at their most favourable. It’s a true feast for the senses with more than 100 balloons of all shapes and colours taking to the skies.
The final aerial extravaganza is the Friday evening Nightfire show. The evening flying begins during daylight and then as twilight descends the show launches with aircraft literally painting the sky with pyrotechnics and fireworks, that stream off their wings. Once the flying fireworks return to land, it’s time for the nightglow balloons to take to the sky. As twenty vast hot air balloons inflate, their burners light up the night sky to begin an impressive dance all set to music. Each evening culminates in a magnificent fireworks display.
There is also an impressive array of trade stands, children’s rides, and entertainment for visitors to enjoy. Whilst you are welcome to bring your own food and drink, there will be a wide range of food and refreshments available to purchase.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and there is plenty of parking available, which is included in your ticket. Premium parking options are also available.
