Cotswold Holiday Cottages for April
Liven up your April with some colour, eggs, jazz music and bunnies
April properly ushers spring into the Cotswolds, with the hills awash with flowers of all colours. Carpets of wild garlic appear first, with their delicious aroma. This is followed by bluebells peeking through the undergrowth, eventually swathing the hills in their luscious lilac-purple colour and filling the air with their gorgeous scent. The ancient woodlands from the north to the south Cotswolds burst into life. There is a beautiful gloss of green as the new buds open. The region’s great private gardens re-open their doors and garden gates for the season providing days out for the family.
Throughout April, The Blossom Trail gives an easy-to-follow route to see the vale of Evesham bursting to life. It is a 50-mile trail with AA signposts which you can follow by car, bike, on organised coach trips or you can explore sections on foot. Beautiful shades from pinks to whites bloom at different times throughout the month.
An Easter holiday in the Cotswolds, in one of our cottages perfectly suited for April, is the perfect time to be with family. Revel in the beginning of longer days and the chance to explore Easter events throughout the region. Sudeley Castle and Batsford Arboretum are amongst those which often host Easter egg hunts.
Cheltenham becomes home to the internationally acclaimed Jazz Festival. The town buzzes to life with previous acts including Kansas Smitty’s, Gregory Porter, Laura Mvula and Randy Crawford. Ticketed events are held alongside the free stage so there is no reason not to get down to the festival site and join in the fun.
It is an especially cute time at Cotswold Farm Park which comes alive with frolicking lambs. Their live lambing events is incredibly popular and you get to be there to welcome the newborns into the world. Talks take place so you can learn from the experts about all things lambing.
