Holiday cottages for April
Liven up your April with some colour, eggs, jazz and bunnies
April properly ushers spring into the Cotswolds, with the hills awash with flowers of all colours. Carpets of wild garlic appear first, with their delicious aroma, followed by bluebells peeking through the undergrowth, eventually swathing the hills in their luscious lilac-purple colour and filling the air with their gorgeous scent. The ancient woodlands from the north to the south Cotswolds burst into life with a beautiful gloss of green as the new buds open, and the region’s great private gardens re-open their doors and garden gates for the season.
An Easter holiday in the Cotswolds is the perfect time to be with family and revel in the beginning of longer days and the chance to explore Easter events throughout the region, from the Sudeley Castle Giant Easter Egg Hunt to the Batsford’s Bunny Hunt. Cheltenham hosts its annual, internationally acclaimed Jazz Festival, while the Cotswold Farm Park comes alive with frolicking lambs. It’s a time of renewal, symbolised too by the delicious hot cross buns served across the Cotswolds’ famous tearooms.
April is when blossom starts to explode across the region’s trees. You can celebrate this wonderous natural awakening by following the National Trust’s #BlossomWatch and visiting one of their many Cotswold locations from Woodchester Park to Hidcote, and Dover’s Hill to Snowshill.
And if the weather is against you, you can snuggle up all cosy in a cottage rental with your loved ones and bring April inside with an Easter craft experience that you can take home and cherish forever.
