Cottages for autumn breaks
The Cotswolds, Herefordshire and Forest of Dean are beautiful all year round, but there is something quite magical about autumn
Booking a holiday home for an autumn break in the Cotswolds, Herefordshire and Forest of Dean is the very best way to prepare yourself for the onset of winter. The change of the season begins gently with the gentlest brushes of bronze and copper tinting the treetops, but before you know it the whole countryside is ablaze with the most vivid shades of russet red, gold and orange.
This is a quieter time of year to explore the countryside, the summer visitors have departed and the locals are returning to a slower, more leisurely pace of life. Autumn is the ideal time of year to pack your walking boots, maybe gather up your four-legged friend (we have lots of dog-friendly cottages) and get out and about to soak up the gorgeous autumn colours. The hills and ancient woodlands are wreathed in mist during the early morning before the sun warms up the day, it truly is the picture-perfect place to enjoy an autumn break.
Spend your days meandering through the beautiful arboretums at Westonbirt or Batsford, the array of glorious gardens and a multitude of attractions before heading to a welcoming pub for a cosy evening spent before a crackling log fire.
We have a wonderful collection of holiday homes and cottages which are perfect for an autumn break in the Cotswolds, Herefordshire and Forest of Dean – ranging from quirky shepherds’ huts and pretty cottages to fabulous farmhouses and beautiful barn conversions. Many have a wood-burning fireplace where you can pile on the logs and hunker down if an autumn storm blows in. Some have outdoor hot tubs for a little star gazing in the clear night skies.
