Cottages for walking holidays

Lace up your walking boots, pack a picnic, and enjoy a brilliant hiking holiday

There is sometimes nothing better than getting out into nature and letting the fresh air blow the cobwebs away. Whether you’re tackling a long route like the Cotswold Way and need somewhere to stop off along the way, or you just want to be able to follow circular routes from the door, we have some great cottages for walking holidays on offer.

We have cottages across the Cotswolds, Forest of Dean and Herefordshire. Each of these areas are known for their beauty and spectacular views. Challenge yourself to reaching the summit of some of our mountains and be rewarded with a sense of achievement and freedom as you are surrounded by far reaching rural countryside. A lot of the cottages below are also pet friendly so you can take your walking buddy with you.

The most well-known route in the Cotswolds is the Cotswold Way. This 102-mile route runs from Chipping Campden to Bath. Many of our cottages sit on this route so all you need to do is lace up your boots in the morning and head on your way. Create a circular route following part of the Cotswold Way or head out until you reach the nearest pub for lunch and then return.

If you’re heading into the Forest of Dean and Herefordshire you can explore Offa’s Dyke and the Monnow Valley Walk. Offa’s Dyke is a well-travelled trail mostly following the border between England and Wales. Starting in Chepstow it starts by following the River Wye as far as Coleford. It gives you the opportunity to explore around the Wye Valley and forms part of many circular routes.

The Gloucestershire Way also begins in Chepstow and loops through the Cotswolds up to Stown-on-the-Wold and back around to Tewkesbury. This route is a great way of seeing the Cotswolds and beyond.

For more local walks, our Walking and Cycling guides give information on shorter paths you can follow from towns and villages across the Cotswolds. No matter where you stay, we can help you get out there and discover the beauties of nature for yourself.
