Holiday cottages for September
Visit in September and enjoy the Cotswolds like a local
It’s the time of year when the Cotswolds waves goodbye to all the families that have visited over the summer. Then it flings open its arms to all who are keen for a quieter time. The sun is still shining. The days are long and the great gardens of the region – Hidcote, Batsford, Highgrove, Bourton to name a few – are open. Usually having a late summer flourish.
From the north to the south of the Cotswold area there are some great festivals that will have appeal to a wide range of interests. For the sporty among us, there’s the Cotswold Big Swim Festival at Cotswold Water Park. Or the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials. A fabulous event where you can watch four days of eventing, dressage and show jumping in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.
For a right rural day out head to the Moreton-in-Marsh Show. It’s a superb day for all ages and rightly called ‘The Countryside in a Day’ by the organisers. It has a taste of everything that the Cotswolds and the wider English countryside offer. From livestock shows to showjumping. And from the Archers-like best-in flower, vegetable, baking, wines, handicraft, and flower competitions to trade stands selling everything from wellies to tractors. You can quite literally buy everything you thought didn’t need here.
If food and drink are an important part of your holiday (when isn’t it?), then take a trip to the Stratford-upon-Avon Food Festival. Here you’ll find over 110 stalls, free cookery and drinks demonstrations, workshops, and tastings.
Whether you are looking for a romantic break for you and a loved one. A getaway with friends or a family get-together. Or maybe even a solo escape to recharge then look no further than our hand-picked Cotswold holiday homes. There is a wonderful choice available for your September escape.
