Holiday cottages for March
Skip into Spring as the beautiful Cotswolds burst into life
March is a delightful time to enjoy a holiday cottage escape in the beautiful Cotswolds. Gardens are blooming with spring flowers; fluffy lambs are bouncing around the fields and villages are awakening from their winter slumber. Visit the Painswick Rococo Gardens for magnificent displays of daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths or the exceptional arboretums of Westonbirt and Batsford, which are carpeted with spring blooms. It’s also a time of excitement as the regency town of Cheltenham bursts into life during the third week in March. The Festival™ is one of the most popular racing events in the year and takes place at the beautiful racecourse, which sits surrounded by the Cotswold hills on the edge of the town. Mix with the great and good of the racing elite, celebrities and royalty, and maybe have a little flutter – the atmosphere is unbeatable.
For those with a need to feel the wind in their hair why not challenge yourself to the Cotswold Cross. This cycling event traverses the quiet roads, lanes and bridleways in the valleys and villages of the southern Cotswolds, and you can choose between 35, 55 or the 75km trail.
If your idea of heaven however is a peaceful March break, then the Cotswolds also deliver this in abundance. It’s a quiet and calm time to explore the pretty villages, welcoming pubs, and enjoy wonderful walks through the beautiful countryside which is bursting with spring flowers and wildlife.
