Arts & Culture Experience
Oldfield Forge is a family-run blacksmithing company in Herefordshire where you can enjoy axe forging and throwing, sword making for two or creating family-friendly toasting forks. Based in Garway Hill, the team combines traditional blacksmithing techniques and craftsmanship with modern technology to produce the finest quality bespoke ironmongery, which it shares during a host of exciting experience days.
Learn how to forge a knife, take part in a couple’s half-day of blacksmithing or bring the family along for a ‘just for fun’ forging session, where you’ll have the chance to practise a number of blacksmithing techniques. There are also solo experiences, including making a decorative dagger, hammer making and ring making for one. While groups can flex their muscles forging axes before taking them to The Viking Games activity site in Hereford or crafting barbecue tools before putting them to the test over an al fresco dinner back at your holiday cottage. Visitors to Oldfield Forge can also combine a forging experience with a tour and tasting at Weston’s Cider, which has been making premium cider in Herefordshire since 1880.
If you’re looking to take home a memento for your own home, Oldfield Forge creates everything from chandeliers to wrought iron gates and other creative pieces.
