Getaway with family and friends to The Long Barn, a Buckinghamshire retreat with the excitement of a swimming pool and games room and two pubs in walking distance. The barn is incredibly spacious with a fabulous open plan living area and romantic first floor master bedroom suite. Choose to stay in spending time in your secluded private garden with a BBQ, having a dip in the pool or game of table tennis, and watching the horses in the fields. If you decide to head out for the day, you’re just a half hour from Oxford with its bustling streets, intriguing museums and tempting pubs and restaurants.

Overview

Your stay at The Long Barn begins with a grand arrival along the tree-lined driveway. Tucked behind the main farmhouse you will meet the horses, chickens, and maybe the owners’ dogs as you settle in. Staying here you are sure to have a restful break in these peaceful surroundings.

The barn has been lovingly styled making the most of exposed beams and existing brickwork to create a bolthole with elegance and sophistication. From the open plan living area which is filled with light to the games room which will become the hub of your stay there is so much space to spread out here. The chef of your group can be kept company as they prepare meals in the traditional kitchen which is open to the dining area and cosy sitting space. Evenings are given a competitive edge as you play pool or table tennis in the games room beneath high A-framed beams which stretch above you. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, each with their own en-suite shower room, while the master suite is on the first floor. This grand bedroom has a wonderfully snug sitting area where you can cosy up with your loved one at the end of the day and watch a film. An extra special touch is added in the en-suite which has a freestanding bath and rainfall shower.

Summer days at The Long Barn are spent in your private garden, sharing nibbles and drinks in the sunshine. There is space for eight to dine together and a gas BBQ so you can prepare feasts. From the garden you can head out to the pool for your daily lengths and spend some time reading poolside. In the surrounding farmland you will see chickens roaming freely and spot the horses trotting in the menage. If you have your own horses you are welcome to bring up to two with you to be stabled here.

The kitchen and dining area embrace the country style with a traditional kitchen in a fun light blue which includes an oven and hob, air fryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee machine and other small appliances. Alongside there is space for six to eat at the dining table and the kitchen island can be used for serving extra side dishes. Games Room
The hub of the home, this room is filled with light and excitement. Whether you want to watch a film together, play foosball, have a table tennis competition or a couple of rounds of pool with a beer it is all here. Open the sliding doors to let in the fresh air, closing the curtains for some privacy and make the most of this time together. This room opens out to your garden, expanding the space even more.

Bedroom Three
Hidden away at the end of the barn, bedroom three has a double bed beneath exposed beams. This room has a sliding door at the end so you can nip out for an early morning dip in the pool. If you want to do some reading or catch up on work there is a dressing table.

En-Suite
The spa-like en-suite has a wonderful rainfall shower, WC and basin.

First Floor

Bedroom One
The guests of honour staying in the master suite have their own space to relax in. A double bed sits amongst beams and there is a cosy snuggle chair perfect for curling up for your own private movie night. Looking across to the pool and menage you have fabulous views to start your day.

En-Suite

Outside

Your private lawned garden has a dining table and plenty of room for a picnic and younger guests to play. At one end a gate gives you access out to the heated swimming pool which is hard to resist. Stunning!

Verified Up Front Reviews
The perfect place for a family May Bank Holiday celebration get together during a heatwave. The property is beautiful and has everything you need including very comfortable beds and powerful showers. Having our own private garden with table and chairs and gas BBQ was ideal, as was the games room. The heated pool was amazing and it was easy to arrange our 2 hour slots with our very welcoming hosts Jane and Steve. We were lucky enough to be able to feed some lambs that they had rescued and spend time with the horses. Everyone enjoyed the frequent visits from Bear and Martha (the Rhodesian Ridgebacks - gentle giants). We would definitely recommend and would love to stay again. Mike

From start to finish - we enjoyed every single second! We spent 3 nights here for my Mums wedding and it was perfect. The barn itself is beautiful, the horses & dogs on your doorstep made it feel like a real life country dream and the owners Jane and Steve were incredible. I can’t wait to visit again!!!

Beautiful home with phenomenal hosts

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a wonderful long weekend stay at this beautifully kept accommodation. We visited Oxford, Blenheim and Waterperry gardens with the children. The highlight for my children however, was to help Jane around the farm of a morning. She was so patient and kind with them and went above and beyond as a host which we are very grateful for. The pool was also so warm, I didn't think I'd use it but I did :-)

Our stay was perfect. The property is tranquil, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The location is fantastic, perfectly positioned for exploring nearby Oxford and Bicester Village. The Clifton Arms pub is a short walk away from the property, and serves delicious meals. The hosts were fantastic. Special mention to Bear and Martha, the hosts’ beautiful Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We welcomed and looked forward to their visits to see us. We loved it so much we are already planning our next visit in 2027. Highly recommended.

We went for a weekend away with friends and were so impressed by the barn and its surroundings. All of the bedrooms were spacious and super comfy, the kitchen was fully equipped with high quality appliances and of course all of the games like the pool table and table tennis went down really well. We had a fantastic time and would come back in a heartbeat, very good value for money!

An idyllic luxury retreat

Verified Up Front Reviews
This was the ideal holiday home for our family with teenage boys. Every detail was so well thought through. The decor was gorgeous, the spacious rooms were luxurious, the beds, linens, superb en suite bathrooms - all faultless. We only wish we could have stayed longer. The owners are really kind and helpful - we felt very looked after. The games room and board games were brilliant and the garden was perfect. We especially loved seeing the horses, chickens and other cute animals outside our windows. Everywhere you looked from the house there was an incredible view. Although we barely wanted to leave the Barn during our time as we felt so comfortable and we loved cooking there, the countryside walks to the local pubs were beautiful. We can’t wait to book again! Thank you for making our stay so perfect

Neda

We had an absolutely incredible stay here, easily a 5-star experience from start to finish. The property is truly special, with stunning grounds that are beautifully maintained and perfect for relaxing walks. Being surrounded by horses and friendly dogs made it feel even more unique and welcoming. The rooms were beautifully decorated, spotless, and incredibly spacious. Everything felt thoughtfully designed, with plenty of room to unwind and feel at home. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with a touch of countryside charm and comfort, this place is perfect. We would 100% stay again and highly recommend it to anyone considering booking!

Absolutely Fantastic, Amazing, Perfect!

The Long Barn is an amazing place to stay, hosted by Jane & Steve, the nicest people you could hope to meet, who made us feel so welcome from start to finish. We booked The Long Barn as a holiday to celebrate our two sons bdays (27 & 30), and along with partners we all had such a lovely time. The whole place is so well designed with luxury fittings, really comfy beds and bedrooms, and the Games Room was an absolute winner. It was where we spent a lot of time having great fun, everyone able to join in. We were allowed to wander around the farm, to see the horses, chickens etc and talk to Jane & Steve about their wonderful place, and its history, and we were made to feel so at home. We walked to Ickford for drinks at the Rising Sun, and back for lunch at The Clifden Arms. Although muddy after the rain, they were easy walks across fields, and both fabulous, prettty thatched pubs. We can't praise highly enough The Long Barn, and what Jane and Steve have created, it was absolutely perfect. We highly recommend and would love to return in warmer weather to make use of the fabulous pool and pool house (with bar!). Thank you Jane & Steve from all 6 of us for making our celebrations very special and many memories to cherish.

A wonderful family break in a beautiful house in the countryside.

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a wonderful 3 night break at The Long Barn in February. The building has been renovated to an exceptional standard, whilst retaining all its original features. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you might need to cook. The lounge area had sumptuous sofas, the bedrooms all with en-suites were extremely comfortable and had great views of the surrounding gardens. We loved the games room especially with a pool table, table tennis table, table football and another TV and more sumptuous sofas! The Barn is approximately 20 minutes drive from Oxford and The Clifden Arms pub is a 5 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk away with gorgeous food for lunches and dinner. The owners were very communicative and friendly, and happy to help with any requests. We were sad to leave and hope to return in the summer. Thank you Steve and Jane.

Georgina

I cannot reccomend the Long Barn enough. Its immaculate, extremely spacious yet has a cozy feel. We had the most wonderful Christmas stay in a beautiful setting. The owners were brilliant, nothing felt to much trouble and you can reach out if you need anything appreciated, the fluffy towels and beautiful linen. Its a true gem.

Laura

A lovely holiday home with fantastic owners. Everything clean and dusted on arrival. Games room was a lot of fun. The owners go above and beyond to allow to have a great stay.
