Our story.
Bolthole Retreats began with a simple idea: to share the countryside’s most characterful homes with guests who’ll love them as much as their owners do. From our base in Cheltenham, we’ve got more than 25 years combined holiday letting and hospitality experience across the Cotswolds, Herefordshire, the Forest of Dean and the wider West of England.
Our team all live in the areas we promote and we are passionate about the region. We choose every property for its character and commercial potential and work closely with each owner to help their home stand out.

Can I still use the property myself?
Absolutely. Your owner agreement includes time for your own stays. Just book your dates in the owner portal as early as you can. We’d strongly recommend avoiding peak periods to make the most of your income.
How do bookings work?
We manage all guest bookings from enquiry to confirmation. You and your housekeeper are notified of every booking by email, and you can see your calendar at any time in your online account.
How much notice will I get?
Bookings are made online with at least 48 hours’ notice. If anyone wants to arrive sooner, we’ll always call you first.
Can I list with other agencies or sites too?
We work on an exclusive basis, managing all your bookings across every channel, including our own website, Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and Plum Guide.
That means one calendar, no double bookings, consistent pricing, and one team managing all your bookings.
Who looks after the guests?
We handle all guest communication before and after each stay, from the first enquiry to post-stay follow-up. If anything comes up during a stay, your nominated emergency contact (usually your housekeeper) is the first port of call and our team will always do our best to help where we can.
Do you charge guests a cleaning fee?
We add a Stay Supplement to each booking, built into the total price guests see, so your income is maximised for both short and long stays.
Can I make changes to my listing?
Of course. Just get in touch and we can discuss any changes to your photos, calendar or description. Our in-house copywriters will shape any wording changes to fit our house style (and what we know helps properties book!) and we’ll always run them past you first.
How am I paid?
We pay all owners monthly.
