Farm shops, delis, and shopping: Set just outside Oxford, Otmoor House has fantastic opportunities for shopping in the local area. Rectory Farm Shop (3 miles) has a pick your own open from April to October to pick seasonal fruit and vegetables. There is also a café and farm shop on site.
If you are travelling up from London, stop off at Lacey’s Family Farm Shop (22 miles) on the way to pick up supplies for your stay. This award-winning farm shop has a deli counter, butchers, range of breads and fresh fruit and vegetables.
For a day spent hitting the shops, Oxford (8 miles) is a beautiful destination with a maze of streets hiding curious independent shops. Bicester Village (10 miles) is a collection of designer stores offering a discount on retail prices.
Eating Out:- Abingdon Arms, Beckley – this community owned pub has an ever-changing menu and fantastic options for Sunday roasts (1 mile)
- The Talkhouse, Stanton St.John – a traditional thatched pub with open fires and exposed beams (3 miles)
- The Nut Tree, Murcott – holding a Michelin star, The Nut Tree has a wonderful tasting menu (7.5 miles)
- The Pointer, Brill – this rustic country pub serves local produce for meals throughout the day (9 miles)
Walks: Just on the edge of Otmoor Nature reserve, there are amazing walking opportunities available from your doorstep. From the house, you can walk down the entrance drive to the reserve where there are two main paths to follow. The Oxfordshire Way skirts around the lower edge of the village giving a great panoramic view.
Follow a loop to the nature reserve, returning through the village of Noke, or head to the village of Beckley returning through Beckley Park or down the footpath through Lower Farm.
Places to Visit:- RSPB Otmoor – this area of wetlands and reed beds is a popular spot for migrating water birds with different breeds visiting throughout the year (0.5 miles)
- Oxford - England’s oldest university city is on your doorstep and easily accessible. Explore the beautiful architecture, museums, galleries, and beautiful riverside walks (9 miles)
- Bicester Village - a popular collection of designer stores offering a discount on retail prices (10 miles)
- Woodstock & Blenheim Palace - Explore the historic market town of Woodstock and the magnificent surrounds of Blenheim Palace. This was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and the palace dates to the 1700’s. There are many events to enjoy throughout the year (13 miles)
