Blenheim Palace

Woodstock

Arts & Culture Experience

Blenheim Palace is a world-class visitor attraction full of history, culture and beauty. Over 300 years old it is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace is home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family and was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

The palace is an especially stunning example of English Baroque. The exquisite state rooms are dripping in elegance and grandeur. An audio tour gives you further insight into the artefacts and art you can see around you. You can also book to follow additional tours including the ‘Upstairs’ tour showing you the family’s private apartments. The ‘downstairs’ tour takes you behind the scenes of the staff quarters and the network of hidden corridors. If you are interested in Churchill’s history, you can visit the tiny bedroom where he was born. The Churchill Exhibition displays important pieces from his past documenting his life and in the grounds you can stand where he proposed to his wife Clementine.

The park and gardens at Blenheim are equally as beautiful as the palace itself. With adventure play areas for children, the Marlborough maze to get lost in and a butterfly house full of species from around the world your day will be filled with wonder. During your visit, stroll through the formal and walled gardens and marvel at the beautiful planting. For a longer walk there are a number of routes around the estate to choose from. During the Summer you can spend time on the lake surrounded by the picturesque palace views. Rent a romantic row boat, kayak or get adventurous and try paddle boarding.

Afterwards, have a break from seeing the sights and visit one of eateries on site. In the walled garden you will find a pizzeria, enjoy an afternoon tea in the spectacular Clemetine’s on the Lawn with views of the palace and there are also cafes for a quick bite and a hot drink.

Blenheim Palace is a truly stunning destination with something for the whole family to enjoy. Guests of Bolthole Retreats receive a 20% discount on tickets. Visit your Guest Login after booking your cottage for more details.

To note: The ticket discount is not valid during the Christmas at Blenheim Place event from 17 November 2023-1 January 2024.
