Tranquillity House has been thoughtfully reimagined to honour its heritage while discreetly incorporating contemporary luxury. Generous sitting rooms, a library collection, upright piano and multiple dining spaces make it ideal for gatherings and family time. The six bedrooms enjoy elevated village and valley views – some offering unparalleled perspectives of the churchyard and its iconic yew trees. Indoor recreation spaces, including a convertible pool and air hockey dining table, PlayStation console, board games and a curated library, balance conviviality with comfort.

Overview

Modern touches and historic Cotswold charm create the quietly stylish finish at Tranquillity House. Throughout the house, exposed stone and wooden beams create textures which add warmth to your stay. Combining the main house and an interlinked cottage, you have the choice to spend time together or retreat in smaller groups.

However you choose to spend your time, everything you need is here. Mornings start with preparing breakfast in the kitchen, which has a country-cottage style dining table waiting to be laid with pastries. Guests staying in the interlinked cottage may prefer to pop down to the kitchenette for a coffee to take back to bed, to really make the most of a lie in. Spend a day at Tranquillity House, allowing the children to play video games in the sitting room while the adults share stories over a game of pool.

Set over three floors, the bedrooms are on the upper floors and are arranged to offer privacy. With three king-size beds and three doubles to choose from, guests have flexibility and space across the interlinked cottage and main house, with the master bedroom also offering two single sofa beds on request.

The delights of Painswick are on your doorstep, from charming cafes tempting you in with freshly baked bread and pastries, to excellent dining options, both pubs and more formal restaurants. Painswick church is shrouded in legend and the always popular Rococo Gardens make this beautiful Cotswold town a firm favourite.

Ground Floor

Accessed via the courtyard, the entrance hall leads to the kitchen and passageway toward the interlinked cottage.

Kitchen
Arriving via the private courtyard, guests enter Tranquillity House through its own entrance hall and into the kitchen, where a discreet touch-screen interface provides immediate access to lighting and house systems.
The fully appointed kitchen incorporates original stone walls and a modern country kitchen featuring an electric hob and extractor, double tower ovens, 13-place dishwasher, washer-dryer, Bibo water system, coffee machine, fridge freezer and country-style table for quiet mornings and meaningful interactions.

Sitting Room
Designed for relaxation, Tranquillity House’s sitting room is equipped with two three-seater sofas, whilst an armchair and stool provide seating for nine. A PlayStation console and 50-inch smart TV are provided for guests’ relaxation, as well as a curated library and selection of board games. An upright piano, the final production instrument from the local Bentley Piano Company in Stroud, takes pride of place. Guests are kindly asked to treat this one-of-a-kind instrument with care. An Echo smart speaker can provide music or help guests to plan their day. A staircase rises to the four bedrooms on the upper two floors.

Dining/Games Room
