Game, set and match! Cottages in the Cotswolds with a tennis court

Posted: Mon, 10th Jul 2023

It’s that time of year again – strawberries and cream, a glass of Pimm’s, and the distant sound of “deuce” that has everyone on the edge of their seat. Wimbledon is most certainly back, and Centre Court is ready to celebrate another remarkable year.

If Djokovic and Swiatek are inspiring you to pick up a racquet this year, we have brought the Centre Court to the Cotswolds and compiled a list of some of our favourite holiday homes which offer access to a tennis court for your own private Wimbledon.

Winstone Glebe House

Winstone Glebe House is one of our glorious Designer Retreats, sitting in beautiful surroundings just a short distance from both Cheltenham and Cirencester. Wonderful landscape-designed gardens envelope this glorious country escape and include a dedicated children’s garden and a private tennis court. Sleeping 12 guests this is a place of old-world charm and is an enchanting spot for family holidays.

Mayfly Lodge

You can enjoy tennis of all kinds at Cotswold Water Park – from table tennis to professional tennis. In the breakfast area of Mayfly Lodge, you will find all sorts of outdoor sports equipment for you to use. Cotswold Water Park offers a range of outdoor activities for all ages, including three tennis courts, one of them being floodlit. If you’re after an adrenaline adventure, look no further than Mayfly Lodge.

Stable Cottage at Freams Farm

Stable Cottage is a great property for lovers of the outdoors, with brilliant walking routes available from the front door. One of our favourites can take you up to Painswick Beacon for views of the Brecon Beacons and Malvern Hills. While guests have use of a private garden, there is also an all-weather tennis court in the owners’ beautiful garden which is made available for visitor use too.

Kington Grange

Kington Grange is a rural estate that offers various holiday rental options – from a seven-bedroom home to the family-friendly Barn or romantic Loft. However, all offer guests the use of the tennis court. Basic racquets and balls can be provided upon request, but experts might like to bring their own! With a large lawn beside the tennis court, spectators can relax and keep score for you.

Belvedere and The Orangery

Forming part of the magical Euridge Estate, Belvedere and The Orangery offer the opportunity to stay somewhere rather special, where the glorious grounds are yours and yours alone to enjoy. This includes the fabulous tennis court, which has a raised viewing area for spectators to watch and show their appreciation. Smaller groups can book The Orangery, which sleeps four in style, if your group is larger then Belvedere can accommodate up to nine guests. Tucked into the Wiltshire countryside, Euridge is the most wonderful place to stay.
