Outside
The extensive gardens are a true marvel. The French doors from the kitchen and drawing room both lead to a large terrace where an outdoor dining comfortably fits ten guests for an al fresco dinner on a warm summer’s evening. A water fountain with seating area offers a relaxing spot to read a book. Wander through the mature gardens to discover a romantic rose bush maze and picturesque goldfish pond. Follow a pretty avenue of trees to the bottom of the garden that overlooks miles of countryside and a distant standing stone. Although once believed to be part of the Avebury avenue, the garden is enclosed and private, only accessible by guests. Walk all the way to the stone circle in the village of Avebury or enjoy a number of other walks straight from the door. This wonderful garden is full of delightful surprises at every turn and will stand out as a very special highlight of your stay here.

Grove Farm at Stitchcombe supplies wonderful home-reared beef from their organic pedigree Hereford cattle, as well as pork, lamb, venison and selection boxes that can be delivered, ideal for a Sunday roast or fabulous dinner party. Three Trees Farm Shop & Café is well worth a visit for its excellent local produce, homemade cakes, cooked breakfasts and light lunches or Marlborough landmark The Polly Tea Rooms, established in 1912, is famous for its afternoon and cream teas. Marlborough itself is home to a wonderful selection of independent shops, perfect gifts and artisan treats, while a Tesco, Waitrose and COOK are available for groceries and delicious meals.

With countless walks from your doorstep, West Kennett House is a walker's dream. From the bottom of the garden you can join the Avebury stone avenue, following it all he way to the stone circle itself where the Red Lion pub is the only pub in Britain situated within a stone circle. Alternatively you can walk to West Kennett Long Barrow, Silbury Hill or head to Preshute for a view of the white horse on the hillside.
