Overview
Nestled within a quiet terrace of country cottages on the edge of Charlbury, Wellington Cottage is a peaceful bolthole for your getaway. Blending the old with the new, you are surrounded by traditional charm and thoughtfully considered details. With a colour palette that flows through the home and added fun flourishes you will find yourselves relaxing here.
Across the ground floor are open plan living spaces and a cosy snug is tucked away beside the garden. You will be drawn to the woodburning stove, taking a seat alongside its crackling warmth to read or have a cup of coffee as the flames flicker. Set the dining table and bring through meals from the adjacent kitchen which has everything you’ll need. The hallway is a bold contrast in a deep blue as you head through to the snug. Flooded with light from the garden view windows, this space is made for curling up at the end of the day as you watch TV. Upstairs are two bedrooms, a twin and a super king-size which will suit a small family or friends sharing. Each has high-quality linens and comfortable bedding to make sure you are wonderfully rested in the morning. The master bedroom showcases exposed beams and has an en-suite shower room while the main bathroom is a colourful sanctuary.
Outside, a charming garden with a dining terrace awaits. Planted borders and climbing roses frame the space where you can set the table for a feast. After a hearty meal, an evening walk to the pub may be in order and you’re just 10-minutes from The Bull and The Bell, two fabulous options. Extend your walk down to the Cornbury Estate, following a trail which leads you along the edge of the River Evenlode.
Ground Floor
Dining Room
Warm and welcoming, the dining room at Wellington Cottage introduces you to the carefully considered style showcased throughout. The room is split with a dining area seating four to one side, and two armchairs beside the fire. After a meal together your group can disperse, reading in the warmth of the fire or heading to the snug to watch TV. Spot the pom poms as you leave this room, helping you to not hit your head.
Kitchen
The kitchen has a traditional design with a contemporary twist. Overlooking the garden, you have a delightful view while preparing meals. There is an oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster and kettle. Stepping out into the dramatic hallway you’ll find some kitchen utensils tucked away in the drawers.
Snug
A quiet corner where you can relax, the snug has a chaise sofa and TV. Put your feet up and take in the garden views, opening the door to step out into the garden to hear the birdsong.
First Floor
Bedroom One
In the master bedroom, a super king-size bed rests beneath exposed A-frame wooden beams. The warm blue headboard matches curtains and touches of a lighter blue are added in cushions and a chest of drawers which is tucked around the corner. Reading lights and small side shelves are added to give you more reason to stay in bed with a book.
En-Suite
Gold trims give a luxe finish to the en-suite shower room. There is a shower with a rainfall and hand-held attachment, WC and basin.
Bedroom Two
The second bedroom is a twin room with two single beds sharing a central bedside table. Similar in style to the master bedroom, here there is a touch of florals in the soft furnishings.
Bathroom
Making a statement in terracotta, the main bathroom has a P-shaped bath with a shower over, WC and basin. As the master bedroom has its own en-suite, this bathroom will mostly be used by those staying in bedroom two.
Outside
At the top of the raised garden is a wonderful dining terrace. A round table comfortably seating four is perfect for evening meals, drinks, or al fresco breakfasts before you head out for the day. Carefully planted borders add colour and it can be a wonderful sun trap.

Dream cottage in the Cotswolds! Staying here was an amazing experience. The cottage is in pristine condition and so full of charm. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the village for great dining and pubs - and you can access hiking trails within walking distance of the cottage. The host was extremely responsive and will definitely stay here again if I'm back in the Cotswolds.

We loved our stay in Charlbury! Wellington was quaint and beautifully renovated- everything has a place and it's clearly labelled and organised. Perfect spot for a cozy weekend getaway!
Molly
A great cottage and a lovely garden to sit in. All immaculately clean and well designed. A very relaxing place to spend the weekend - country walks straight from the door and a short and easy stroll into town. We will be coming to stay again soon we hope.

Absolutely charming cottage in the beautiful town of Charlbury. It is tiny but modern and well-equipped with good use of space so we didn’t feel cramped as a family of four. 10 minutes walk from town centre, comfy beds and sofas and fluffy towels - would definitely book again for our next visit. One practical tip is that the plugs are not beside so bring long cables if you want devices near you at night.
Victoria
I booked Wellington Cottage with my daughter (17) as we both really needed a proper break and we had a perfect break at this wonderful cottage. Easy drive up from London and able to park (free) right outside the front door – unlike in other parts of the village from previous frustrating experience. The cottage is perfectly located right at the edge of charming Charlbury. On one side is the beautiful green landscape of the Cornbury Park Estate – on the other side lie the many great pubs, restaurants and coffee shops that make this such a great place to do nothing (and not cook for a change). The cottage itself is beautifully finished, cosy but spacious. I have a thing about places that feel small or cluttered and Wellington Cottage has room to relax. The master bed is a generous super-king with luxurious linen (very important IMHO) and I gather the twin beds in the other room also hit the spot! Best of all was waking up and opening the curtains to a magnificent view over parkland

This is a beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated snug little cottage in a perfect location - walking distance from the station and with easy access to pubs and shops. The main bedroom has views over Cornbury Park, and there are numerous walks from the front doorstep or in the area more generally. The kitchen is fully stocked, and the log fire makes for a very cosy sitting room. Upstairs the large beds are comfortable, with luxurious linens and each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. A superb bolthole that we would fully recommend!
