Swallows Rest is a real home away from home offering a traditional style that is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. There's a spacious, open-plan kitchen-diner, separate living room and a light and airy sunroom which opens onto the enclosed rear garden. There are three well-appointed bedrooms on the first floor including one with an antique four-poster bed and a family bathroom, on the second floor the fourth bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and the most glorious of views.
This charming cottage has beautiful gardens both front and back. To the front, the pretty garden has borders filled with flowers including a magnificent Hydrangea bush and roses climbing over the front door. The rear garden is fully enclosed with a smooth lawn, planting and a stone patio, perfect for al-fresco dining and watching the vivid sunsets over Bredon Hill in the distance.
Ground Floor
Entrance Hall:
The traditional wooden front door opens into a tiled entrance hall. To your left the door to the kitchen-diner and to your right, the living room.
Kitchen/Diner:
This generous open plan space runs the length of the cottage, the window to the front looks out over the front garden and lets the sunshine flood in. There's a country-style wooden table that seats six comfortably and it’s in close proximity to the kitchen area, making for sociable mealtimes. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could possibly need to create wonderful meals including a range-style stove with a gas hob and electric oven and washing up ceases to be a chore with a full-size dishwasher.
From the kitchen area, there are two steps to the rear hall which has a handy downstairs cloakroom and where you'll find the washer-dryer and a separate freezer if you need it. There's also a side door to the back garden.
Sun Room:
This lovely room has two comfy three-seater sofas and double doors which open to the garden. There are wonderful rural views to the rear and it’s a relaxing and sunny spot to curl up with a good book or just listen to the birds singing outside.
Living Room:
The living room is double aspect and furnished with two vibrantly coloured plump sofas upholstered in shades of purple and turquoise. The wooden floor is topped with a colourful rug and light comes from a ceiling chandelier and two reading lamps. The coal-effect gas fire creates a warm cosy glow on chilly evenings and there’s a large screen Smart TV for entertainment, there's also a DVD player.
First Floor
Stairs lead from the entrance hall to the first-floor landing and a window taking in the rural views.
Bedroom One:The antique four-poster double bed is the focal feature of this spacious bedroom which overlooks the front garden. There's a large antique wardrobe, bedside cabinets with reading lamps and a dressing table set with a triple mirror and stool. Above the occasional chair is a wall-mounted TV.
Bedroom Two:
This delightful single bedroom has lovely views over the back garden and beyond to Bredon Hill. The room is furnished with a full-size single bed, a dressing table with a reading lamp and a rocking chair. There's also a built-in cupboard with hanging space and a wall-mounted TV above the bed.
Bedroom Three:
The second of the single bedrooms looks out over the front garden and is equally charming. This spacious yet cosy room has a double wardrobe, dressing table and a little bedside table with a reading lamp.
Family Bathroom:
The main family bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a handbasin and a WC. There’s also a mirrored bathroom cabinet and a heated towel rail. The frosted window lets natural light in.
There is a second flight of stairs with a door at the bottom to Bedroom Four.
Second Floor
Bedroom Four:
Encompassing the whole of the second floor this spacious bedroom features a double brass bed, built-in wardrobes, bedside tables with reading lamps and a panoramic window that showcases the incredible views. From here you can watch the weather as it changes and the magical sunsets over Bredon Hill. You might also be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the steam train as it trundles past.
Ensuite:
The ensuite bathroom is vast. There's a standalone bathtub with a handheld shower, WC and handbasin. A large Velux window lets in plenty of natural light.
Outside
To the rear of Swallows Rest is a large, enclosed garden with a gate to the parking area behind the cottage. On one side is a field where you'll often see sheep grazing and further beyond there are green paddocks. The stone patio has a six-seater wooden table with chairs and bench seating, there are also two reclining loungers and an American smoker BBQ. It's a lovely space for al fresco dining and drinks on warm summer evenings and to take in the wonderful sunsets.
