If you’re looking to be whisked away to a land of idyllic countryside and picturesque scenery, this is the retreat for you. Pickett Cottage, with its rose adorned entrance, truly peaceful setting and exquisite views is what you picture when you hear the words “Cotswold cottage”. From the honey-hued glow of the stone to the woodburner and homely bedrooms you are a world away from the hustle and bustle. Walks lead you from the doorstep to nearby Northleach with exceptional pubs and historic sites as you stroll through the Hampnett Valley.

Overview

Nestled in the valley of Hampnett, Pickett Cottage is a secret hideaway for couples or families with children over the age of seven. One of a row of old worker’s cottages, it oozes charm and character. Roses bloom, footpaths lead off into the idyllic countryside and a stream rolls gently by.

The open plan living area introduces you to Pickett Cottage. A warming space which opens before you, it is light and roomy, cleverly split into a sitting, dining area and kitchen. The cosy sitting area is set around a woodburning stove with enough space for everybody to relax. At the end of the day this is a lovely spot to read a book or just switch off and watch TV. A generous dining table can be laid for meals which have been lovingly prepared in the traditional kitchen. The range cooker is a focal point here with its herb tiling. Upstairs are two quaint bedrooms with a master which showcases the stone this area is so well-known for. Each bedroom has its own bathroom so there are no queues when you’re getting ready to go out and nobody is on top of each other.

Pickett Cottage has a beautiful garden with views across the nearby fields. Spread a blanket on the lawn to read and take meals outside to linger in the evening sun. From your doorstep you can join the Monarch Way and reach Northleach in 20 minutes where you find independent cafes, delis and award-winning pubs.

Ground Floor

Open plan living/kitchen/dining
Snippets of Cotswold stone show through in this spacious living area, reminding you of your historic surroundings. The living area has two sofas and an armchair so you can stretch out and rest weary legs if you’ve spent the day walking. Light the fire and pop the TV on to really luxuriate in your relaxation.

Open the French doors to the garden and gather at the dining table for meals accompanied by a gentle country breeze. You can easily take meals outside from here.

A traditional kitchen stretches across the rear of this room with oodles of cupboard space and a fantastic range cooker. You will find everything you need to accommodate you during your stay.

First Floor

Bedroom One
Take a moment to spot the picture on the landing showing what this row of houses once looked like and you’ll see not much has changed. Bedroom one with its king-size bed has retained some of this original charm with exposed stone. The peaceful view looks across the hamlet urging you out of bed in the mornings to head out for a walk. Built-in wardrobes let you unpack and there are bedside tables.

En-Suite
The compact en-suite has a shower, WC and basin.

Bedroom Two
Adding flexibility to the sleeping arrangements, the king-size bed in bedroom two can be arranged as two single beds. Looking out over the garden, open the windows in the morning to be greeted by birdsong.

Shower Room
Next door to bedroom two, the shower room acts as an en-suite. There is a shower, WC and basin.

Outside

Set the dining table and enjoy your meal with the gentle scent of roses filling the air. A raised lawn is perfect for stretching out in the grass and playing with the dog. There is a high drop at the front of the garden so ensure pets are supervised.

A great stay, thank you

We found a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds, nice location too. We were not sure what to do with the two refuse bins that had been emptied before we arrived, we could not have taken them up the steep steps!

Vicki

Had the most fantastic stay at the Pickett Cottage! So peaceful with all the birds chirping! Every attention to detail has been used. WiFi is a bit spotty. Beds were comfy, kitchen and baths spotless. We’ll be back!

Katie

This beautiful cottage is in a lovely village. There are several dining options in nearby Northleach. The decor is tasteful. The kitchen was well equipped.

Julia

Beautiful location, really peaceful and quiet. The cottage is super cute with comfy beds, nice bathrooms and well stocked kitchen. WiFi was a bit slow, but apart from that would definitely recommend!

Rosie

Loved this little home away from home. It was in the most peaceful little sleepy village. Home was clean and perfectly decorated. Would recommend to any guest.

Pickett cottage is in a fabulous, quiet location and just a 30 minute walk across fields (or road) to Northleach where there are wonderful pubs, cafes and food shops. The cottage is well stocked with everything we needed and we slept so well on the comfortable beds. Thank you so very much. We highly recommend. X

We loved our stay here and felt right at home while in the Cotswolds. The location is straight out of a storybook and so peaceful. You’re within an easy drive of many of the villages! The hosts were also responsive and lovely to work with.

The property we stayed in was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Lovely quiet area and in a short drive distance to many attractions in the Cotswolds. We would definitely choose bolt hole properties again.

Quiet, peaceful and comfortable cottage

Pickett Cottage is a comfortable, clean and peaceful setting for a stay in the Cotswolds. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining and lounge areas are very comfortable and pleasant. The cottage has a wood burner which warms the living areas very well. the outlook of Pickett Cottage is really pleasant and it is well placed for walking and exploring the Cotswolds by other means. The two bedrooms upstairs in the cottage are very comfortable. One is ensuite and the other is located near a shower-room. These bathrooms are good but the water did not have great pressure and at times was not hot across our stay, which was disappointing. Overall, Pickett Cottage was a lovely venue for our short-stay in the Cotswolds.

Pickett cottage Hampnett

To find the cottage was quiet hard because Google maps directed us wrongly. But after a little searching we found the cottage. Directions to find the cottage could be better. Warm water was not abundant but you can change the warm water setting manually luckely. The kitchen, living room and garden was very nice. Everything you need was there. More comfortable garden seats would be nice. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms were great. From the cottage you could easily go walking, to for exemple Nortleach. The Wheastsheaf Inn in Nortleach is a very good restaurant.

Leonie

Perfect Pickett

Verified Up Front Reviews
The cottage was just perfect, we walked through the door and instantly felt at home and honestly could have quite happily moved in! Hampnett is a very quiet village but within easy walking distance of Northleach (15min) either across the field or via the lane, the Sherborne Arms and the wine bar are both good! You can do some great walks straight from your front door and the cottage had a variety of OS maps for you to plan routes. There was also a nice loop from the cottage round the field and back which was great for our morning and evening walk with the dog. You are also in a good postion for travelling around to the popular hot spots in the Cotswolds if that's your thing! The kitchen was very well equipped with utensils, pans etc and had a big range cooker for cooking on. Bedrooms were lovely, beds comfy and lots of nice touches like travel sized toiletries, room diffusers. En-suite shower room in the main bedroom and a second shower for the the other bedroom, both ample sized. We would honestly not hesitate to stay here again!
