Country walks, thatched cottages, traditional pubs and exclusive clubs are what this corner of the Cotswold are known for. Let Oak Cottage be your bolthole as you visit The Falkland Arms in Great Tew for a meal, stepping into a world showcased in MobLand, rub shoulders with the well-known at Soho Farmhouse if you’re members and explore historic Chipping Norton. After days spent out and about, Oak Cottage perfectly suits your Cotswold adventure. Old wooden beams and contemporary art, colourful soft furnishings and a stone fireplace - these features combine to make a homely and characterful stay. Days here are slower, mingling in the open plan living area with friends, watching time pass from the front sitting area and succumbing to sleep in relaxing bedrooms. This is your escape to enjoy at your leisure.

Overview

Your journey to Oak Cottage takes you through the quiet winding lanes that the Cotswolds are known for, passing country pubs and charming honey stone cottages. The village of Swerford is a quaint retreat to get away from it all for a romantic break or a stay with friends who enjoy spending time in the countryside.

Carefully chosen details in natural tones and art that sparks conversation makes Oak Cottage a homely place to stay. Your time at this delightful cottage will mostly be spent in the open plan living area. Chats beside the fire and dinners in or quiet mornings reading are peaceful ways to spend your time when you’re not out and about. The kitchen has a modern twist to the traditional style with mustard tiling beneath exposed beams and is equipped with everything you’ll need. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and one with a double. Each has its own style but both embody a tranquil atmosphere. These bedrooms share a stylish shower room which has a rainfall shower for a spa-like experience.

Oak Cottage sits in a raised position and has benches and a coffee table to the front. Bring your morning coffee here and watch village life pass before you begin your day. Walk to The Boxing Hare for an evening meal and plan your days visiting Hook Norton Brewery, Broughton Castle, Chastleton House or have a family day out at Fairytale Farm.

Ground Floor

Living Room
The first thing that strikes you in the living room is the artwork. A gallery of unique, colourful pieces are displayed above the fireplace adding intrigue and starting conversation. Sit here on the comfortable two-seater sofa or one of the stylish armchairs, picking a book from the shelf to get absorbed in beside the electric fire or just watch TV, relaxing into life at Oak Cottage. Secluded under the stairs is a desk if you need to set up your laptop while here.

Kitchen/Diner
With splashes of mustard yellow in the tiling and soft furnishings the kitchen/diner has a colourful twist to the traditional country kitchen aesthetic. The galley kitchen has an oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge with a freezer compartment, coffee machine and a wine fridge. You’re fully prepped for dinners at home and a chilled glass of wine at the end of the day. To one side of the kitchen is the dining area. With a bench and two chairs the table seats four and you have a view across the quiet village lane.

First Floor

Bedroom One
Retire to the master bedroom where a snuggly king-size bed awaits. Matching wooden bedside tables and a chest of drawers furnish the room. Gentle tones make this a restful room where the peace of Swerford will lull you to sleep.

Bedroom Two
The second bedroom has a double bed tucked between bedside tables. Here the bed has restricted access, but it is no less comfortable. Stay in bed for as long as you can in the morning with a book and a cup of tea.

Shower Room
After a long country walk, nothing is better than a refreshing rinse and the rainfall shower at Oak Cottage is ideal. Tiled in a tranquil blue with funky flooring it’s a rejuvenating space.

Outside

Oak Cottage has a south facing front garden with two benches and a coffee table. This is a real sun trap where you can watch village life pass by. Footpaths lead from the village and you are a short stroll from the nearest pub, The Boxing Hare.

Lovely little cottage in a cute village. Very pretty area and great spot for Chipping Norton and other villages. Only downside is parking on the street, on a slight bend. But saying that we had no issue. Beds were very comfy.

Lisa-anne

The cottage was just as charming as it looks, and the cleanliness was top-notch, with all the amenities you need! We spent much of our time on the lovely front patio soaking up the sun. The host was fantastic—always quick to reply and very welcoming. Can’t wait to stay here again!
