Quaint country peace

Verified Up Front Reviews
Myrtle Cottage was a little slice of peace for our visit to the area. A home-away-from-home to retreat to after busy sightseeing each day, it had all the comforts we appreciated and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We wish we had explored the outside of the property more at the start of our stay, as only on the last day did we realize the wonderful views from the almost secret path beside the cottage.

A wonderful cottage

Verified Up Front Reviews
We loved our time at the cottage! I was a little worried about how we would cope in the hot weather but we stepped into an amazingly cool kitchen and the cottage turned out to be the best place to be in a heat wave! The finishing touches really made us feel like we stepped into a home rather than a holiday let. We could really see and feel the care that has been put into making the cottage feel warm and inviting and it is so well equipped with everything you need. The cottage and its surroundings gave us the opportunity to spend time as a family and step out of our busy lives for a moment.

Quaint cottage, quiet location

We had a very enjoyable stay at Myrtle Cottage. It is a beautiful old building with lots of nice 21st century features including a well equipped kitchen and walk-in shower. We loved how quiet it was at night and how lively the birdsong was in the morning.

A gorgeous find!

We had such a lovely time here. 2 couples in their late 20s, needing to escape the city life! There’s gorgeous walks around, had a great meal at the local pub and just enjoyed having the fire on and playing games in the evening. We had a tiny hiccup with the oven that was immediately sorted by the kind owner coming round. We will 100% be back! Thank you!

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location

We absolutely fell in love with old Myrtle Cottage, a beautiful, well equipped property in the most perfect location for getting out and about in the Forest of Dean. The Farmers Boy Inn, just 200 yards up the road, was a lovely bonus. Their friendly welcome and hospitality, along with their excellent food and beverages, really helped to make our stay even better. We can’t wait to go back and discover more of the area!!

Sally

Lovely cottage in a great location with everything we needed! Had a delicious meal at The Hope and Anchor in Ross after a beautiful walk along the river. The Farmer's Boy Inn was lovely and welcoming as well as the Crown Inn in Lea. All 3 pubs were welcoming to our dogs who loved going by the fires! Symonds Yat is worth the walk and The Old Ferrie Inn was amazing, but you need to book ahead! Overall a wonderful stay and all four of us enjoyed our festive break! Thank you.

Rachel

Many thanks for an amazing welcome to Myrtle Cottage; log burner blazing away, a mini welcome hamper and a fully equipped cottage made us feel home from home. The attention to detail all around the cottage was second to none, we really didn't want for anything! Our highlights dureing our stay were: Christmas dinner at The Farmers Boy Inn; their warmth and welcome made us feel like locals, Sculpture trail in the forest and Symonds Yat for the spectacular view. Merry Christmas!! Thanks agian.

We had a long weekend in this cottage and really enjoyed it. Communication with owner the John was excellent throughout and the property is very comfortable and nicely furnished. Good walks directly from the cottage and it is in an exceptionally quiet position. Everything you could possibly need is provided and it's all very clean. Two woodburners as well as radiators keep the cottage nice and warm and the beds and furniture are all very comfortable. We would definitely recommend this cottage.
