Overview
Escape to this beautifully rural corner of the Cotswolds, where awe-inspiring views surround you and country pubs are at every turn. Churchill House becomes your home from home where you feel at ease from the moment you arrive.
This beautiful house is full of surprises, with two reception rooms, an elegant dining room and a very well-equipped kitchen. Each space is dressed with antique furniture, rich fabrics and conversation starting artwork which adds character throughout. With a drawing room overlooking the sweeping grounds it’s hard to resist spending time here playing chess with your favourite tipple after a family dinner together at the dining table. While there is plenty of space to gather the whole group, there are also quiet corners to squirrel yourself away with a hot drink for a moment alone. On the first floor, each of the four bedrooms has its own en-suite. The master suite has the added benefit of a dressing room so there’s plenty of space to put the suitcases away and to get ready for an evening at The Chequers, an award-winning pub, just down the road.
What catches your eye at every turn at Churchill House is the garden and the views beyond. Step outside and spot the church tower in Stow-on-the-Wold on the skyline before you explore the arboretums and hidden gardens. Sculptures catch the light and guide you through this fantastic space. With around 15 acres to explore it is perfect for children to play, lazy picnics and taking the dogs for a stroll.
Ground Floor
Utility/Boot Room
When you first arrive at Churchill House you can leave your coats and shoes in the boot room before you head off to explore. There are laundry facilities and extra space for storing food here. Just outside is a garden tap to rinse off dogs before letting them in.
Kitchen
Flooded with light, the kitchen is a wonderful space. Cleverly designed, everything is within arms reach with an oven and hob, coffee machine, dishwasher and a fridge. Little extras have been thought of so you are well stocked with crockery and cooking equipment and there is even an ice machine. Set the kitchen table here for up to six to enjoy breakfasts or a quick lunch in between adventures.
Dining Room
Elegant with a touch of historic glamour, the dining room encompasses the essence of this 1880s home. Portraits, antique furniture and a beautiful view out the French doors make this an atmospheric setting for family meals. Set the table for up to ten and feast on local produce picked up from nearby Daylesford Organic.
Sitting Room
Surrounded by garden views, the sitting room is a cosy retreat. Light the fire, grab a book and enjoy this peaceful spot at the end of the day. There is space for six to watch TV and it’s perfect for younger guests to get away from adult conversations.
Drawing Room
You will spend most of your time together in the drawing room. This impressive space is perfect for after dinner drinks, catching up with old friends and letting the hours pass you by over a game of chess. You’ll find yourselves distracted by the far-reaching views which are framed by the mullioned windows, perching on the window seat to watch the skies change. The TV is cleverly disguised by the mirror above the fireplace and there is space for everybody to have a comfortable seat.
Cloakroom
A handy addition to the ground floor, the cloakroom has a WC and basin. The charming, mullioned window is a lovely introduction to the history of this house.
