Near Burford
Wildlife & Gardens Experience
Crocodiles of the World is a unique experience. Located near Burford it offers the opportunity for visitors to come face-to-face with some of the world’s most fearsome predators in a safe, fun and educational environment.
There’s a lot to learn at Crocodiles of the World, with many of them misunderstood creatures. Discover famous caimans, alligators, and dwarf specimens, including Cuban and Siamese, two of the most critically endangered species. You can also see saltwater crocs, generally regarded as the most feared in the world. As you explore there are a few mammal, bird, and small reptile enclosures to discover. Crocodiles of the World was founded in 2011 by crocodile conservationist Shaun Foggett. It remains committed to its conservation ethos by protecting more than 150 crocodiles representing 19 of the 24 different species. It’s one of only a handful of zoos in the UK where you can see a Komodo dragon, the world’s largest lizard.
If you want a hands-on day, then look at the wild keeper experiences. These enable you to get up close and personal with many of the animals whilst learning as you go. The range of keeper experiences includes junior and adult croc keeper, meet the meerkats, giant Galapagos tortoise experience and the Komodo dragon experience. There is also a full-day VIP option for adults. This brings you into contact with crocodiles in a way that few people ever get to experience. These keeper experiences are the perfect gift for those ‘hard to buy for’ family and friends.
To note: Crocodiles of the World is a registered charity, committed to advancing crocodilian conservation and promoting awareness of environmental issues affecting crocodiles. The zoo is accessible for wheelchair users, those with walking difficulties, and pushchair and buggy friendly. Dogs are not allowed.
