Events Experience
Date: TBC 2024
Chipping Norton Literary Festival – aka ChipLitFest – is a weekend that brings a true celebration of books right into the heart of Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire. All the events take place within the market town’s wonderful venues. From its gem of a theatre to its Georgian town hall. The festival began in 2012. It is a fabulous community project that brings together people of all ages and simultaneously connects organisations around Chipping Norton. Participatory events and workshops also enable people to hone their own creative skills. Likewise, the annual ChiLitFest short story competition attracts hundreds of entries.
As a small literary festival that undeniably punches above its weight, the Chipping Norton Literary Festival regularly brings in the big hitters in fiction and non-fiction. Much-lauded names such as Joanna Harris, David Nicholls and Dominic Sandbrook, as well as a smattering of well-known names from TV including Prue Leith, Adam Henson, Jo Brand, David Baddiel and Robert Peston. There’s always something for everyone and a chance to take part as well, with writing workshops and food events. Its lively children’s and family events are hugely popular too. The festival is widely regarded as one of the friendliest, innovative, and welcoming festivals on the literary circuit and it is undoubtedly popular with visitors and participants alike.
Events take place across four days and include talks and workshops in and around this charming market town. ChipLitFest prides itself on being a local festival and visitors are therefore encouraged to explore and support the excellent range of independent shops, cafes, and bars in Chipping Norton.
Tickets are available online and all events take place within a 10-minute walk of each other. Chipping Norton is one of the most popular gateways to the beautiful Cotswolds. So why not make the literary festival weekend part of a longer stay and explore the area further?
To note: Booking opens in March 2024.
