Badminton Horse Trials

Alongside the hugely popular Badminton Horse Trials, there is a whole calendar of events at the Badminton Estate. Explore the magnificent gardens during the spring and summer open garden days. Take part in a cross-country run through the estate, join a seasonal craft workshop or enjoy a concert under the stars.

Badminton Horse Trials

When | 4-8 May

Staged within the beautiful grounds of the Badminton Estate, these world-famous horse trials have been taking place for over 70 years. This annual spectacle is a fabulous day out for the whole family taking place in early May. Over four days enjoy the thrills and spills of the cross-country course, the precision and grace of dressage and the delights of showjumping. This is a family and dog-friendly event with plenty of shopping and hospitality options alongside equestrian entertainment.

Open-Air Concerts

When | 2 July and 16 July

Dance the night away under the stars at an open-air concert with two of the UK’s biggest hit makers. The legendary Sir Rod Stewart takes to the stage for his first time performing on the Badminton Estate on 2 July. The show will be a memorable occasion for all as he performs hits from across his impressive career, making this a night to remember. Two weeks later the iconic rock band The Who accompanied by a live orchestra and UB40’s Ali Campbell will be playing hits from a career spanning nearly 60 years. The event on 16 July promises to be something very special.

Open Garden Days

When | 23 April, 25 June and 3 September

Explore the stunning gardens at the home of the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort, the beautiful Badminton House. The gardens are only open for three days across the year and it’s a wonderful opportunity to see the magical change of the seasons. On the East flank of the house are the formal beds designed by Russell Page. Discover the South Garden, a dazzling display of water squares, hedges, borders and beds and the Walled Garden, home to the Badminton House Kitchen Garden. Whether you are a green-fingered genius or simply a lover of horticulture and glorious gardens, this is a very special experience. Choose from spring, summer and late summer dates.

Tough Mudder South West

When | 12-13 August

Are you up for the challenge? Take on the horse trial course as you tackle the Tough Mudder South West at Badminton House. Launch yourself over huge obstacles and through the thickest of mud with your team of comrades. It’s a fabulous atmosphere, challenging and a great deal of muddy fun.

Where to Stay

If you fancy staying close to, or even on the Badminton Estate while visiting their events, then we have a couple of options for you. Up first is the exquisite Swangrove House. This remarkable hunting lodge dates from the early 1700s and lies on the edge of the Badminton Estate. Alternatively, Charming Chapel Walk Cottage is in the quiet village of Didmarton, surrounded by wonderful walks and a great local pub within a short stroll. The Badminton Estate is less than four miles away. If you are seeking something a little larger, then Grindstone Mill is a delightful six-bedroom holiday home. It’s close to Wotton-under-Edge and just eight miles from Badminton.
