Live like a royal in Tetbury

Highgrove Gardens

Step into a world of royalty when you visit the Cotswolds by spending time in Tetbury. A real crown jewel, you can follow the footsteps of King Charles III along the historic streets and back to his home at Highgrove. The private residence is just outside Tetbury and has belonged to King Charles since 1980. Once a simple garden it has blossomed into a spectacular display thanks to his vision.

You can visit as part of a tour in Summer and Autumn, perusing the kitchen garden, taking in the scents of the thyme walk and wandering amongst the twisting arboretum. The gardens have been designed to “please the eye and sit in harmony with nature” and have been treated as an ever-changing canvas.

In the centre of Tetbury you can also take home a taste of Highgrove from the shop. Teas, biscuits, honey, preserves and champagne – everything you need for an afternoon tea!

Knowing that King Charles III and Queen Camilla can call Tetbury home, you are certainly in good company here! Zara Philips and Mike Tindall add to the royal line-up at Gatcombe Park just outside the town.

With its royal connections it’s no surprise that you’ll find a local miller with a royal warrant here. Shipton Mill produce a range of organic flours from traditional options to ancient flours like spelt, millet and sorghum. There is so much more to the world of milling than you might first image and you can join a member of the team on an afternoon tour. At the end of the day, pick up some flour to make your own loaf fit for Buckingham Palace.
