Full Description
Angels’ Folly tells a story of the Cotswolds. Once part of a 16th century stable block its exposed beams, stone fireplace and Tack Room bedroom immerse you in your surroundings. Sitting amongst charming cottages in Bourton-on-the-Hill you can easily explore on foot and get to know this beautiful area.

The love and attention to detail which has gone into creating Angels’ Folly is evident as soon as you step inside. Each corner has been carefully curated with colourful fabrics and unique art from the sitting area to the bathrooms. Spend time together in the open plan living area, a sociable space where food can be served at the kitchen bar and you can spend a night in by the fire. Upstairs two elegant king-size bedrooms await. The master bedroom is inspired by a tack room and has a sliding stable door hiding the en-suite. Bedroom two is finished in hues of dusky pink and looks across the back garden.

Make the most of the garden at Angels’ Folly, dine outside, lounge with a good book and pick apples straight from the tree. Sharing access with the neighbours you have your own private half for an undisturbed break.

Ground Floor

Open plan kitchen/dining/living room
Rich blues bring the open plan living area to life where the exposed stone of the inglenook fireplace is a beautiful feature. The kitchen has everything you will need with an oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and even a coffee machine. Start your day with pastries and a brew at the breakfast bar where there is space for 2-3 to sit comfortably. Beyond the kitchen is the sitting area which opens to the shared courtyard. With a two-seater sofa and two armchairs you can all sit together around the fire sharing a bottle of wine or watching a film at the end of the day.

Bathroom/utility
Hidden through a sliding door, the bathroom is a luxurious surprise. A freestanding rolltop bath has a rainfall shower above and details include the copper basin and traditional style high cistern. Tucked to one side is a laundry cupboard with a washer/dryer and a clever mini clothes rail mounted above.

First Floor

Bedroom One
The master bedroom, named the Tack Room, takes its inspiration from Cotswold country pursuits. Spot the saddlery which is hidden throughout! Equestrian wallpaper, an antler chandelier and natural tones give this king-size room a warmth which eases you into relaxation. Wooden beams stretch above you and there is a smart TV to tempt you to long lie-ins.

En-Suite
Through an old sliding stable door is the en-suite. There is a rainfall shower, WC and basin.

Bedroom Two
In the second bedroom you will see open beams above and a section of exposed Cotswold stone. The comfortable king-size bed sits amongst dusky pink tones which are continued through the furniture and soft furnishings. Start your day opening the windows to look across the garden and fields beyond.

Outside

Stretching before you, the garden at Angels’ Folly have hidden corners and a fabulous dining area. Light the BBQ and set the table for a summer time feast before spending your afternoon lounging in the sun. At the end of the garden is an apple tree below which you could lay a blanket and have some time to yourself.

Reviews

Recently renovated property, I think we were the fourth to stay. Really well done. It is a real cottage feel inside and out that matches the area. The train station is only 2.5 miles away and the proximity to some of the great villages, pubs, and picturesque countryside that is open to numerous walking trails. With a Michelin star restaurant less than .25 miles away, this is a hidden gem in the Cotswolds. We will refer friends and come back!

We can highly recommend Angel’s Folly. It’s a beautifully designed ‘home from home’, with everything that you need to truly enjoy and make the most of your stay. The house is immaculately clean and peaceful and is the perfect base for exploring all the Cotswolds has to offer.

I’ve stayed in so many properties & boutique hotels over the years and this home blew me away! It’s even cuter and cosier than the photos! There was a basket of snacks for us, a bottle of wine, chocolates by the bed, and everything was immaculately clean and well styled. The owner designed the home herself (incredible), and was so nice and communicative. The next door neighbours are also lovely and were fun to chat with. There’s a great pub just a block up the street called Horse & Groom - make a reservation in advance! We ate there both nights. This is a fantastic place to base yourself while exploring the Cotswolds and even has a parking space for you if you want to risk your life and limb driving around like we did. We loved our two night stay here with two of our friends and felt like we were visiting Martha Stewart if she was a hobbit in the Shire.

Location

Bourton-on-the-Hill is between the famous Cotswold market towns of Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Broadway, and is ideally located for travelling to Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Sudeley Castle. There are footpaths directly from the cottage out across the Cotswolds, including the Moreton Eight Trail, which takes in Batsford and the Cotswold Falconry, Bourton House Garden and Sezincote Gardens. Batsford Arboretum – home to one of the UK’s largest private tree collections (and where the Mitford sisters spent part of their childhood) – is a stone’s throw away from Pilgrim, as is the beautiful Norman Church of St Lawrence and the award-winning Horse and Groom pub.
