Bourton House Garden
Bourton-on-the-Hill
Wildlife & Gardens Experience
Bourton House Garden has been a labour of love since 1983. This is when the owners of Bourton House set about transforming a neglected wilderness into a stunning garden. Over the years the garden has evolved, and visitors can now enjoy rare, unusual, and exotic plants. Together with inspired planting and vivid combinations of texture and colour. The raised 18th-century walk offers beautiful views of the surrounding Cotswolds, and a more recent addition is a walk through the seven-acre pasture. Here, with the aid of a tree guide, visitors can discover the groups of specimen trees planted in the mid 1990’s.
Highlights of Bourton House Garden include the White Garden, an impressive topiary walk, and several spring-fed water features. One of these is a raised basket pond from the Great Exhibition of 1851. The gardens are usually open through to the end of October and the range of planting ensures there is usually a wonderful late summer flourish.
There is a café available until the end of September, serving hot and cold drinks, light lunches, and yummy cakes. Visitors are asked not to take food and drink into the garden. There is free parking in the field opposite the entrance to the garden.
To note: The garden has limited disabled access. There are accessible WC facilities available. Dogs, picnics, and drones are not permitted in the garden.
