Escape to Outshot Barn for a true country getaway on a working farm near Hay-on-Wye. Immersed in rural tranquillity you can make the most of the great outdoors, heading out for walks and bike rides straight from your front door. Summer days are spent splashing in the swimming pool (open Easter-October half term, weather dependant) and cooking on the barbecue, while on cooler evenings you can curl up in front of the woodburner. Ideal for small families, the children will adore meeting the farm animals, while it also makes a romantic retreat for couples who want to get away from it all. Hay-on-Wye, famous for the Hay Festival and its envious collection of bookshops, is nearby and you are surrounded by the delights of Herefordshire and the Welsh Borders.
Full Description
Sitting in a secluded position between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye, Outshot Barn is a stylish and modern farm stay. Approached along a country lane you arrive on the farm to be greeted by free-roaming chickens and fields of livestock. It is a peaceful getaway where you can embrace the outdoors and enjoy time relaxing in the outdoor heated swimming pool (open Easter-October half term, weather dependant).

The highlight of the barn is the open-plan living area with its high ceilings and bi-fold doors. Open these doors to the garden to create a wonderful space, serving meals al fresco and gazing out to the hills in the distance. The décor combines rustic country living and modern industrial with contemporary light fittings, wood-clad walls and traditional furniture. It is a comfortable space that makes you feel at ease as you sink into the sofa and relax in front of the woodburner. The comfortable boutique-style bedrooms provide flexibility with a super king-size and a twin which can be a double on request. With plump, fluffy bedding and an en-suite each, you have your own privacy and space.

The private outdoor heated pool is the icing on the cake at Outshot Barn. You will spend most of your time outside, splashing in the pool, soaking in the country air and taking the dogs on long, rambling walks. The surrounding Herefordshire countryside is waiting to be explored with ruined castles, black and white villages and historic towns, or head into the Brecon Beacons for an exhilarating hike.

Ground floor

Open-plan living/dining/kitchen:
With a high ceiling and large bi-fold doors this is an impressive space. A three-seater sofa and two armchairs gather around the wood-burning stove and Smart TV for cosy evenings in. There is a dining table seating four and a well-equipped kitchen with a large Rangemaster oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and small appliances.

Bedroom One:
The super king-size bed has a stylish headboard and comfortable bedding to ensure a great night’s sleep at the end of the day. The blinds add a splash of colour with hot pink pheasants serving as a reminder to your rural setting. Two chests of drawers and hanging rail provide storage and you have views out to the swimming pool and neighbouring fields.

En-Suite:
The first en-suite has a large walk-in shower with a rainfall shower head for a spa-like experience. There is also a WC and sink.

Bedroom Two:
Adding flexibility to the sleeping arrangements this room has twin beds which can be set up as a super king-size on request. There is a chest of drawers and bedside table, a hanging rail, and the lamps include a nod to the surrounding farmland with a rabbit and fox adorning the base.

En-Suite:
The second en-suite has a spacious double-ended bath with a shower above. It is perfect for soaking tired legs after a great day spent exploring on foot. There is also a WC and sink.

Outside

To the front of the barn, you have a private gravelled garden with a table and chairs seating four. This is a gated area perfect for those with children or dogs. Alongside is the outdoor heated swimming pool (open Easter-October half term, weather dependant), bring your inflatables and spend some quality time together as a family. At the end of the day the dark skies in this area make it a fantastic spot to watch the stars as you enjoy an evening drink.

As a family with two young children, the property was wonderful for us and just what we needed. The pool was a particular highlight and the kids spent every afternoon in it. The house is really well appointed and clean, with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable seating. The area is quiet, with lovely walking straight from the front door and Hay-on-Wye a short drive away. It's a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday.

We had a wonderful stay, the barn is beautiful with plenty of space and super comfortable beds. The pool was fabulous and we really enjoyed the outdoor space which was ideal for our little dog to run around and very secure. The surrounding farm is great, we enjoyed seeing all of the animals in the various fields each day. The owner was really friendly and helpful throughout our stay and we loved her friendly farm dogs! The location was very good with easy access to explore the local area and we would definitely return again.

The barn is absolutely beautiful, comfy and very easy to live in! We also made great use of the pool given the hot weather. The location is stunning, very relaxing, lovely sunsets and an abundance of bees, butterflies, etc due to the beautiful gardens. It was lovely seeing and hearing the cows, hens, sheep and ponies as you relax in the garden and barn. Sally was really helpful both before arrival and when there, and although it’s a working farm it still felt like you had plenty of privacy and quiet, chilled time! Would highly recommend this beautiful accommodation.
