Lying in a pocket of peaceful villages not far from Cirencester, Winstone Glebe offers the perfect rural escape, yet is easily accessible. Spend time exploring the wealth of Cotswold attractions nearby before returning to your own little piece of the English countryside.
With time-worn flagstones polished smooth by owners of the past, gracefully high ceilings, generously proportioned rooms, and oodles of character, Winstone Glebe is a much-cherished family home that you are welcome to share. The ground floor flows effortlessly through a country-style kitchen, complete with AGA, a pretty drawing room, an elegant dining room, a games room with a pool table and a delightfully cosy snug. Upstairs, six charming bedrooms offer all the space you could possibly need and wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Traditional colours, beautiful fabrics, and unique pieces of art, all add to the character and appeal of this delightful country home.
Perhaps the most memorable of all are the gardens. Wrapping around every corner of Winstone Glebe, the Sylvia Crowe-designed gardens date from the late 1940s and feature formal planting, terraces, and topiary. Children have their own lovely space with a football goal, swing set and a trampoline. The stone terrace overlooking the lawn and fields beyond is where you’ll spend lazy afternoons with a jug of Pimm’s or an icy cold G&T as the sun sets over the yard arm.
Ground Floor
Kitchen:
The country-style kitchen has everything you need for a self-catering stay, or if you prefer you can organise a private chef. Alongside the traditional AGA, which keeps things beautifully toasty during the winter there is also a double oven and a gas hob plus a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and microwave. The corner table with its bench seating is a good place for feeding little ones, enjoying a quiet coffee reading the papers, or for arts and crafts on rainy days.
Utility/Boot Room:
Beyond the kitchen, the useful boot room is where you’ll find a second fridge along with the washing machine and tumble dryer. If you’ve bought your four-legged friend, this is also a good drying room. There is also a door to the garden.
Dining Room:
This elegant room features French blue walls, a beautifully polished wooden floor, high ceilings, and an open fireplace. The antique dining table ensures mealtimes are always transformed into special occasions and in the sideboard, you’ll find the original garden plans drawn up by Dame Sylvia Crow in 1947.
Drawing Room:
Designed with conversation in mind, the drawing room is a warm and welcoming room with an open fire, plump sofas to sink into and where you can simply relax and enjoy time with your guests. There’s no TV in this room so you can just soak up the peace and quiet, whilst the children entertain themselves in the games room next door. Large windows at each end ensure the room is filled with light.
Games Room:
This spacious entertainment room has everything you could possibly need to keep children (young and old) happy. A large corner sofa occupies one end of the room, placed before a large wall-mounted Smart TV with streaming services. The button-topped ottoman is ideally located for marathon board game sessions, and you will find many options to choose from on the well-stocked shelves. There is also a full-size pool table with cues and balls. Vintage Air France posters add pops of colour to window-lined walls and double doors open to the terrace.
Snug:
Adding to the abundance of living space is the gorgeous snug. This forms the oldest part of the house, dating to the 1600s. Dark blue walls are the perfect foil for the old stone fireplace that now houses a cosy wood-burning stove, whilst the teal velvet sofa invites you to curl up with a good book and relax for a while.First Floor
Wisteria:

Rose:
Restful shades of pale cream and green, and a huge window filling Rose with light are highlights of this gorgeous room. There’s a king-size bed, a charming animal print chair, that invites you to curl up for a while and beautiful fabrics.
