Tucked away on a picturesque family-run farm, The Old Calf Pens is a peaceful and secluded getaway with far reaching countryside views. Sympathetically restored from an existing farm outbuilding, the owners have kept some of the original features in place making this a wonderfully unique bolthole. Two bedrooms sit at either end of a spacious split level open plan living area. With a wood burning stove inside and a quaint cottage garden it is perfect for any season. At The Old Calf Pens you get all the benefits of a rural stay while only being a short drive from the buzz of Cheltenham and Cotswold hot spots including Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water.
Location
Lower Hampen Farm is a small, family-run, working farm in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has been farmed by the family for over 220 years. The farm is a ‘Fair to Nature’ mixed arable and livestock farm and has a flock of rare breed pedigree sheep (Devon Closewools), Ruby Red Devon cattle, two donkeys (a mother and daughter named April and May), free range hens and seven beehives. The farm is very wildlife friendly and is always working to improve the biodiversity of flora and fauna and is home to many rare species. Birdlife on the farm is fantastic, with raptors and owls, including breeding Barn owls, Little owls and Tawny owls.
With this rural idyl on your doorstep, you might think you’ll be miles from any town or facilities. In fact, Cheltenham is only eight miles away, the A40 (the main arterial road through the Cotswolds) is less than five miles away, there are three excellent golf courses within a few minutes’ drive and some of the Cotswolds’ most picturesque villages - Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter and Stow-on-the-Wold - are all within a 20-minute drive.
