Immerse yourself in the gentle ambience of Lakeside Cottage - a classic hideaway burrowed in the heart of the Cotswolds between Stroud and Cheltenham. The ultimate way to press pause on daily life, enjoy views of glass-like waterscapes and undulating hills speckled with thick forest as you sip a cold drink outside. Situated in one of England's most beautiful spots, Lakeside makes an excellent base for exploring the abundant Cotswold landscape and the plethora of historic sites, sleepy villages and bustling towns that lend the area its enduring charm.
Full Description
A spacious, light-soaked hideaway with an undeniably peaceful ambience, Lakeside Cottage is your invitation to revel in the slow pace of rural living. Whether you choose to rest your feet next to the sitting room's roaring wood burner, pull out a seat in the classic dining room, or rustle up farm shop finds in the kitchen, Lakeside's living spaces are as well equipped as they are peaceful. Meanwhile, there's two expansive bedrooms to retreat to after a day exploring the high notes of the Cotswolds.

As the glowing sun rises over the lakes, pour a hot coffee and take croissants down to the terrace, lovingly named the Crow's Nest by the owners, to revel in spectacular views of the undulating valley that ancient trees and wildflowers call home. With nothing but the sound of birds weaving around the cottage, this place embodies a real sense of tranquillity.

Over your stay, you'll likely find yourself returning to the Crow's Nest time and time again - especially in the evening, when the sun begins to set below the skyline.

Ground floor

Kitchen/Dining Area:
The hub of the house, Lakeside's spacious kitchen and dining area is well-equipped with all the essentials as well as a dining table perfect for enjoying everything from brunch through to dinner. As the sun rises across the valley, pour yourself a mug of tea and peer out the window at majestic views.

Sitting Room:
After a day exploring, the sitting room makes for a cosy space to unwind thanks to a crackling wood burner and plenty of comfortable seating. We love the elegant wall paintings and dark wood antiques in this room.

Dining Room:
Gather with loved ones in Lakeside's classic dining room. With four embroidered seats framing a large dark wood table, it's a place to eat, drink and plan the next day's adventures.

Bedroom One:
Bedroom one is a sanctuary for restoring after a day walking or exploring Cotswold highlights. With a plump double bed and scenic view, this room has all you need.

En-suite:
Equipped with all the essentials, bedroom one's en-suite is perfect for refreshing after a day outside.

Bedroom Two:
Equally tranquil, Lakeside's second bedroom is a place to wind down and relax. Featuring two single beds, it has a large walk-in wardrobe ideal for storing clothes and suitcases, while a dressing table and long-length mirror make getting ready for dinner easy.

En-suite:
Featuring all the essentials as well as a luxurious bath, bedroom two's en-suite is apt for a relaxing soak after an afternoon of country escapades.

Outside

Framed by billowing hills lined with lush woodland, outside is where Lakeside Cottage really comes into its own. Whether you spend peaceful days sat on the Crow's Nest with a glass of wine admiring the stillness of the lakes, or read a book as the sun sets across the horizon, you'll benefit from the calming ambience of this place. For when you get peckish, you'll find a BBQ in the barn, ideal for making dinner with local meats and a fresh salad.

Carol and Peter were the best hosts, so friendly and professional. The property and location were idyllic, so peaceful and stunning scenery. We know the area well but still found new things. We cannot recommend highly enough!

We stayed here for three nights while working in the area and it was a very welcome change from the normal hotels. The location of the property is stunning with wonderful views of the valley and the lakes as well as being very quiet. Peter and Carol are fantastic hosts and Lakeside Cottage has been prepared to an extremely high standard with countless touches that show they really care - I would thoroughly recommend this place.

This place is fabulous. Despite being so close to the Gloucester town centre, the Lakeside Cottage is an untouched and unexplored gem in the Cotswolds. The picturesque view right outside your window includes lakes surrounded by hills as if someone had painted them there. There was even a bird's nest, which was like the cherry on top. The interior of the house is perfect for two families. However, the best feature of the house is the restrooms they are massive and spacious. The house is decorated in a charming Victorian style and includes a collection of books, CDs, a hearth, and a television. If you are a book lover, don’t miss the chance to read the homeowner's authored books yes, Peter is a writer himself. In fact, this place can inspire the writer in you if you stay long enough. I’m glad I found this place and look forward to returning very soon.
