Jasmine Cottage is a charming, converted barn built in local Cotswold stone and furnished in a country cottage style. It was originally part of the stables to the once adjacent, 18th-century coaching inn called The Crown, and its exposed beams are a reminder of its rich history. The cottage has a reverse-living design with two bedrooms (one ensuite) and a family bathroom on the ground floor, and an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, with a log burning stove and double sofa bed, on the first floor. There is a private garden, with an outside dining area and shared use of an outdoor swimming pool (open mid May to mid September 10am-2pm - weather dependant), separate children's play area with swings, slide and trampoline. The location is perfect for walkers, cyclists and visitors exploring the wider Cotswolds.

Full Description

Jasmine Cottage is approached along a winding lane surrounded by woodland, which follows the edge of Crickley Hill. Turn off the lane into a green oasis created at the end of the 19th Century by the then owner Sir William Thistleton-Dyer, who was a director of Kew Gardens. Jasmine Cottage is the larger of two semi-detached cottages straight ahead. The sloping land to the side of the cottage has been well looked after for well over a hundred years and was planted with many rare and unusual plants, which the current owners of Crickley Court – Jasmine Cottage’s parent location – continue to maintain with great care.

The accommodation is arranged over two floors. On the ground floor are two bedrooms, one ensuite super-king double and one twin (both rooms can be either super-king or twin on request) and a family bathroom. Head up a wide, carpeted staircase to the light and contemporary, open-plan living-dining area and fully equipped kitchenette. The living area has a comfortable, 4-seater corner sofa, which can be converted into a double sofa bed on request. Guests will find a log burning stove for winter evenings and a Smart TV, DVD player and sound system to relax to after a day out exploring the Cotswolds.

The cottage has its own pretty and private garden with planted borders, and mature trees forming a backdrop. On a patio area, there is a large, six-seater table, chairs, parasol and charcoal BBQ. A separate shared swimming pool (open 10am-2pm), children’s play area, with swings, slide and trampoline (with security net), sits to one side of the garden and is shared with guests at the adjacent Amber Cottage.

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall:
Step through the glass and wood doorway into the spacious hallway with hooks to hang your jackets and coats and plenty of room to leave boots and shoes.

Bedroom One:
This light and bright, dual-aspect bedroom is furnished with a super-king bed (can be twin on request), with a bedside chest of drawers and reading lamp to either side. A free-standing wardrobe provides plenty of space to hang clothes, while a chest of drawers with a large mirror above acts as a handy dressing table. A rug is provided over the wood-effect floor to keep toes cosy.

Ensuite Shower Room:
The ensuite has a corner cabinet shower, with a detachable showerhead, a WC, a washbasin with a mirror and shaver point, a wall-mounted hairdryer and a heated towel rail.

Bedroom Two:
The compact twin bedroom looks out over the garden and is furnished with two full-size single beds and two bedside chests of drawers and reading lamps. (This bedroom can be super-king on request.) The room has a free-standing wardrobe and a chest of drawers providing plenty of storage for clothes. A rug is provided over the wood-effect floor to keep toes cosy.

Family Bathroom:
The bathroom has a full-size bath, with an over-bath electric shower, a WC, a washbasin with a mirror and shaver point and a wall-mounted hairdryer and heated towel rail.

First Floor

A carpeted staircase with a handrail leads up to the first floor.

Open-Plan Living-Dining and Kitchenette Area:
The stairs open out to a light and welcoming open-plan room, with a dining table that seats four, or six when expanded, six chairs and a bureau with a stereo system, maps and local guides. The contemporary kitchenette forms an L-shape, with a double oven and grill, a dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer down the long side and all the crockery and cooking equipment needed for a self-catering stay. The short side of the ‘L’ forms a breakfast bar, with three bar stools to one side and cupboards and a fridge and freezer to the kitchen side.

The living area is furnished with an L-shaped sofa, that comfortably seats five, an armchair, a coffee table and a reading lamp. A wood-burning stove, with a log basket and fire tools, makes this a super cosy space on winter evenings. For guests’ entertainment, there is 47” Smart TV and DVD player, with plenty of family-friendly DVDs. The whole room is flooded with light from three Velux windows. The sofa can be set up as a comfortable double sofa bed on request.

Outside

To the rear of the cottage is a pretty and secluded garden with planted borders and mature trees. A patio area with a six-seater table, parasol and BBQ provides a lovely space to sit outside and enjoy the afternoon and evening sunshine. To the front of the cottage is the gravel driveway with parking for three cars. Guests have use of a shared outdoor swimming pool (open mid May to mid September 10am-2pm - weather dependant), separate children’s play area with swings, a slide and an enclosed trampoline, which is shared with guests at the adjacent Amber Cottage.
