The Granary is a cosy but spacious, rural, semi-detached barn conversion that sleeps 4 guests across one double and one twin bedroom with one bathroom. The cottage has a woodburner and garden and shares a large courtyard with three other holiday homes, which form part of Oosland Barns Holiday Lets at the heart of a family-run arable farm. Nestled within walking distance of the historic Warwickshire village of Bidford-on-Avon, which was famously visited by William Shakespeare on his travels from nearby Stratford-upon-Avon, just 8 miles away. The property is dog friendly and ideally located to explore the Cotswolds and nearby Stratford-upon-Avon.
Full Description

The Granary is a red brick barn that has been converted into a cosy and comfortable, sleeps-four holiday let that sits alongside Owl’s End, another Oosland Barns holiday let. The cottage is set in a gravel courtyard at the centre of a working arable farm, just half a mile from the River Avon and the pretty village of Bidford-on-Avon.

The barns and the fields around were purchased by the owner’s family in the 1960s. In the 1980s the barns became grain stores, and the courtyard in front of the cottage was covered over with large steel bins for extra grain storage. In 2012, the grain barns were converted, and the grain store taken down, and the full conversion to Oosland Barns Holiday Lets was completed in 2015.

Inside, the cottage is decorated with a tasteful, country-cottage style and comfortably accommodates four guests, with a welcoming, fully equipped kitchen-dining area with tall French windows overlooking the garden and farmland beyond, and a separate living area with a log burner. Upstairs are two bright and spacious bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a family bathroom.

Ground Floor

Step in through the front/kitchen door into the open plan Kitchen-Dining area, with a bright yet cosy Living Room to one side. The property is decorated throughout in a neutral, pleasing palette of colours with pops of red throughout and features exposed barn timbers in the bedrooms and bathroom.

Kitchen:
The fully equipped, spacious kitchen has a lovely stone floor, with underfloor heating, and looks out to the courtyard from the double sink. It features an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, 4-slice toaster, kettle and microwave, plus all the crockery and glasses you need for a self-catering stay.

Dining Area:
Within, but off-set from the Kitchen’s main cooking area, is a delightful dining area with a large, circular table that comfortably seats four guests and looks out to the garden passed the open staircase and through the French windows.

Living Room:
To the left of the Kitchen is a cosy, dual aspect living room featuring a woodburner. Furnished with a corner sofa and armchair to comfortably seat four guests, plus a coffee table, Smart TV, and sideboard with books, games and puzzles – this room is a lovely space to relax and spend time in after a long day out exploring. A desk is provided for guests who need to work or are at the property for a workation.

First Floor

At the foot of the wooden staircase, looking out to the garden through the French windows, is on an old-style telephone seat, with a seat and table and hooks above to hang coats and jackets. The staircase, with a bannister, leads up to two bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Bedroom One:
This pretty and spacious L-shaped bedroom, with exposed timbers, overlooks the garden below and the farmland in the distance. The bedroom is furnished with a standard double bed with bedside tables and reading lamps, a wardrobe, chest of drawers with a mirror and has a Velux window (with a blind). (Note: the main window has reinforced glass to conform to safety standards and does not open.) The bedroom has plenty of room for a travel cot if needed.

Bedroom Two:
This pretty, dual aspect, L-shaped bedroom sleeps two guests in two single beds, set at right angles for privacy. The bedroom is furnished with bedside chests of drawers and reading lamps, a large chest of drawers with a mirror, while hooks and hangers are provided to hang clothes.

Family Bathroom:
The light and bright bathroom features a full-size bath with over-bath shower, a toilet, wash basin with a shaver point, and a heated towel rail. On the landing outside the bathroom is a tall cupboard providing storage for a vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board and clothes airer.

Outside

At the front of the cottage is small, fenced garden, with a lawn, patio and seating, which looks out across the farmyard and surrounding farmland. A gate leads to the shared Oosland Barns courtyard and the parking area. The garden is dog friendly/dog proof (unless your dog can jump above waist height). Guests with dogs are welcome to walk them around the surrounding farm lands (please stick to the outside if the field is planted). A charcoal BBQ is provided (please bring your own supply of fuel.)

  • The Granary is on a working farm, and at certain times of the year, there is more activity than others. In the summer (August/September), while the owners are harvesting, tractors and trailers will be coming backwards and forwards filling the grain stores, which are situated close to the cottage. This will not impact your stay but is something to be aware of, particularly if you have young children or dogs.
Neighbouring Properties
The Granary is one of five Oosland Barns holiday lets and can be booked with Owl's End for families or friends wanting to travel together but have their own space. You can share the properties between your group, but please bear in mind you would not have enough seating to necessarily sit/eat together. (Both properties are dog friendly and accept a maximum of two dogs each, with a fee per pet payable on booking.)

Reviews

We had a good long stay here, we were working in the local area and it was a great place to come back to relax after a long stay. The owner was friendly too.

A well-appointed cottage ideally situated close to the river in beautiful Bidford Upon Avon and close by to the town of Stratford Upon Avon. Our family of four had an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

My boys and I stayed whilst visiting the air festival and it was a perfect spot. The beds and bedding were even better than at home. So we now all want new sheets and pillows. So soft and comfy. It felt very luxurious to us. The place was very comfy, felt spacious and we had a lovely stay.

A great base to explore the Cotswolds. The property was comfortable and well-equipped. Peaceful location overlooking fields. The nice pub down the road, doesn’t do food on Monday but we popped next door to The Bridge restaurant and had a nice meal there.
