Full Description
This welcoming cottage is tucked into the rear corner of a small and peaceful courtyard of similar properties, and is very much like stepping into a Tardis!

Whippet Cottage is an inviting and welcoming place to stay, the traditionally styled interior is warm and homely, and original beams can be seen throughout, lending character to the cottage. On the ground floor, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, a comfortable living room and a fabulous sunroom with bi-fold doors leading out to the private, enclosed courtyard garden. There's also a ground-floor shower room. On the first floor, there are two cosy bedrooms with views over the rear to the gardens beyond, and a second bathroom.

Outside there is a large, private courtyard surrounded by a canopy of trees and the sound of birdsong, it's very peaceful and secure if you have dogs with you. There's a dining table with seating for six, a charcoal barbecue and a secure shed, which is perfect for bicycle storage. This is a lovely spot for alfresco dining and sunset drinks on a warm summer evening.

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall:
From the front door, step into the tiled entrance hall which has a large wooden shoe rack, coat hooks and a handy storage cupboard, where you’ll find the iron and ironing board.

Kitchen/Diner:
This welcoming, sociable space has a dining table that seats four easily and opens into a well-equipped kitchen area. A large butcher’s block provides additional worktop space. Hidden behind the pale, shaker-style doors you’ll find everything you need for a self-catering holiday, including a dishwasher and plenty of cookware, should the urge to bake come over you. There’s also a gas hob and electric oven, a full-size fridge-freezer, washing machine and a smart TV. Throw open the double doors to the enclosed courtyard to let the fresh air in.

Living Room:
The simple yet elegant wood burner is a focal point in this generously sized room. The white painted beams overhead add a sense of character, while corner lights give a gentle glow to the room. There’s plenty of comfy seating with both a three-seater and a two-seater sofa plus an armchair. There’s a large Smart TV in one corner and the wooden furnishings enhance the welcoming ambience.

Sunroom:
This fabulous room runs the entire width of the cottage and is a wonderful addition to the living space. Bifold doors can be folded back allowing inside/outside living and easy access to the enclosed courtyard. There’s a further dining table with seating for four, a three-seater sofa, two armchairs and a soft leather chesterfield sofa, all of which are piled with throws and cushions, making it a cosy spot even when the weather is cooler.

Shower Room:
Off the entrance hall, there’s a ground-floor shower room with a step-in shower cubicle, hand basin and W.C.

First Floor

Stairs rise from the living room to the first floor.

Bedroom One:
The first of the two bedrooms is a cosy room with a window overlooking the rear and a front Velux bringing in more natural light. The super-comfy king-size bed is made up with crisp white linen and a pretty bedspread, adding colour to the neutral decor. Built-in wardrobes and a tall chest of drawers give plenty of storage and there are also two bedside tables with reading lamps. A pretty rattan two-seater sofa offers occasional seating.

Bathroom / Shower Room:
Between the two bedrooms is a well-fitted bathroom featuring a large bath with a handheld shower, WC and a vanity unit with a hand basin, mirror with light over and side storage cupboards with a shaver point.

Bedroom Two:
Similar in style to bedroom one, this bedroom is a cosy double with views to the rear of the cottage. Built-in under-eaves storage, bedside tables with reading lamps and a small chest of drawers provide everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Outside

To the rear of Whippet Cottage is a private, enclosed courtyard with a side gate to the parking area. Delightful stay over New Year 2024. The cottage was immaculate throughout. A great base to explore the Cotswolds. Good recommendations for restaurants/things to do in the welcome guide. Local pub walkable (5 mins), didn’t eat there but the NYE party with Ceilidh Band was good fun. The bathrooms and kitchen (very well stocked with all you need) were immaculate. Would definitely stay again.

Our second visit to this property which suited our requirements for a short stay. A well furnished and comfortable stay with a more than adequate inventory situated near two Cotswold hotspots of Broadway and Chipping Campden. Thank you.

The cottage was well equipped, particularly liked Hi Fi in the lounge. Kitchen facilities are excellent for whatever cooking wish to do. The house also very comfortable, Conservatory worthy of note as a lovely sun trap even in autumn with very comfy sofas. The house is maintained to a high standard, with everything clean and in good condition. House located in lovely private courtyard of similar properties, with a lovely community garden. Also less than 10 mins walk from Fleece Inn a lovely pub cannot recommend highly enough. All made for a very relaxing weekend away. Will certainly be returning.

Location

The vibrant village of Bretforton has a thriving community, with plenty of events happening year-round. The Fleece Inn is a real hub for the village and depending on when you visit you might encounter the quirky annual asparagus auction, complete with ‘Asparamancer’, Morris Dancers, or the apple and ale festivals. They have regular folk music nights too. Within a short stroll, there’s also a fabulous community-run shop and the parish church of St Leonard’s is a peaceful spot in the heart of the village. With the Cotswolds and the Cotswold Way National Trail on your doorstep and urban delights such as Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon within easy reach, this is the perfect place from which to explore. For garden lovers, Whippet Cottage is close to the magnificent gardens at Hidcote and Kiftsgate, and Batsford Arboretum, which is beautiful at all times of the year, is also nearby.
