The cottage has beautiful walks from the doorstep and is situated between two great local pubs and a stone’s throw from the town’s vibrant art centre, Tetbury Goods Shed. A great location for visiting Highgrove, Badminton, Gatcombe, Westonbirt, Cotswold Water Park and Malmesbury.

Perched on the side of The Chipping, above the picture-perfect green that lies at the bottom of the infamous Gumstool Hill, sits Old Stables No.2, an attractive, semi-detached Cotswolds holiday cottage. Offering both excellent amenities and a fabulous location, Old Stables No. 2 provides a warm welcome for visitors looking to explore this enchanting area of the English countryside.

From the outside, Old Stables No. 2 epitomises a typical Cotswold holiday home, with its natural Cotswold stone and pretty Cotswold green window frames. The cottage has a large, shared front patio and a private, enclosed courtyard patio to the rear, accessed via a gated side path, where guests can relax and enjoy dining al fresco. In the warmer months, the courtyard is filled with colour from the blooms of an array of wall-climbing plants.

Inside, the cottage is well-equipped and comfortably furnished. A cosy living room and spacious, well-equipped kitchen/dining area comprise the ground floor. Upstairs, guests have use of three bedrooms, including a master bedroom with king-size bed, a double bedroom, and a small single bedroom, with a family shower room between the three bedrooms.

Old Stables No. 2 can be rented with its neighbour 1, Old Stables (sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms).

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall:
Step through the front door into an enclosed porch – a handy space to remove your coats and footwear before heading inside.

The Living Room:
The cosy Living Room looks out to the front patio and is furnished with a stylish, deep-buttoned three-seater sofa, two armchairs, a coffee table, a smart TV and an electric fireplace. Occasional tables and reading lamps add to the appeal of the room. A large under-stair cupboard houses cleaning and ironing facilities.

Dining Room/Kitchen:
This attractive open-plan room, with wood laminate floor, looks out over the rear patio, which can be accessed via the kitchen back door, making it easy to carry out drinks and food for al fresco dining. The dining area has a square table to comfortably accommodate five guests (actual table is larger than in photo), with a sideboard housing mats and table linen and window shelf with cookery books.

The fully equipped kitchen features a single oven, electric hob, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer. The attractive dove-grey kitchen cabinets hold all the kitchen and dining ware needed for a self-catering stay.

First Floor

Bedroom One:
Overlooking the rear patio, the master bedroom features a king-size bed on a black iron bed frame, with bedside tables and reading lamps. The bedroom has a dressing table with a mirror and seat and a free-standing wardrobe.

Bedroom Two:
The second double bedroom overlooks the front patio and road and features a standard double bed with bedside tables and gorgeously quirky reading lamps that are complemented with a dressing table, mirror and chair and a free-standing wardrobe (not shown in photos).

Bedroom Three:
Ideal for a younger guest, this compact room overlooking the front patio and road has a single bed, a dresser with drawers and bedside light and a large storage cupboard (ideal for suitcases).

Family Shower Room:
A modern, stylishly decorated family shower room featuring a corner cubicle shower, W.C., wash basin, with vanity unit and mirror, and a towel rail.

Outside

The cottage has a private, enclosed rear courtyard (with a high wall adorned with climbing plants), which can be accessed via the kitchen back door or along a gated side path that leads from the front of the cottage where there is a patio at the front shared with the adjoining Old Stables No.1. A teak outdoor dining table and chairs is provided for al fresco dining.

Points of Note

Parking: Limited free on-street parking is available, however, the Old Railyard car park is just a short walk down the road from the cottage and offers free, unrestricted parking 24/7

Location

If you’re a lover of all things vintage or antique, Tetbury is undoubtedly the place for you - the town regularly features in Drew Pritchard’s Salvage Hunters - with several antique stores on the high street. There’s an abundance of stylish and arty cafes, boutiques and pubs, and Prince Charles’ Tetbury residence-inspired shop Highgrove. There are some wonderful walking routes to explore right from the front door and the Tetbury Goods Shed, with its eclectic mix of music, art and theatre is a minute away.

In addition, there are several local places of interest within a 10-mile radius, including Nailsworth, the National Trust’s Newark Park, Westonbirt Arboretum, Owlpen Manor, the Matara Centre, Woodchester Mansion, Highgrove House, Badminton, and Gatcombe Park.
