Where to discover Pantone’s 2022 Colour of the Year

Posted: Wed, 9th Mar 2022
Pantones Colour of the Year, Bolthole Retreats

Every year, for the past 23 years, Pantone – the US-paint brand – chooses a colour that sums up their emotional take for the coming year. This year, delicious Very Peri (17-3938) is the Colour of the Year – a blue with violet-red undertones. Imagine a field full of gorgeous lavender flowers and you have the right mental picture.

According to Pantone, Very Peri will help you “embrace the altered landscape of possibilities” in 2022. Hurrah to that after the last two years we’ve all had. If you need some inspiration and would like to see what Very Peri – and some subtle variations of it – look like on walls and furnishings, take a look at eight of our holiday cottages that have already embraced this great hue.

We think you’ll agree Very Peri feels at once fresh and soothing.

Brock Cottage

You’ll find versions of Very Peri throughout Brock Cottage, but it’s most impressively used across the whole wall in the snug and climbing up the stairs in the annex.

Crofter’s Barn

If your style is ‘less is more’, the living area in this converted threshing barn will give you an idea how to pull that off, with just a smattering of Pantone’s Colour of the Year in the cushions and throws.

Gladstone Cottage

This charming property has truly embraced Very Peri, with soothing purple appearing in just about every room, but most notably in the kitchen and the ensuite bathroom.

Kingfisher Cottage

A deep and vibrant version of Very Peri has been used to brighten the living room at Kingfisher Cottage, and also makes an appearance on the bedheads and covers in the downstairs bedroom.

Rowan House

A light touch of Very Peri can be found in Rowan House’s ground floor bedroom where Very Peri trickles through the room via cushions, lighting and even some faux lavender.

Tachbrook

The towels, curtains, bed head and valence in the pretty twin bedroom at Tachbrook in fills the room with calm and that surely leads to a whole host of “possibilities”.

Tom’s Barn

Very Peri gives a slightly regal feel to the bed throws in the twin room at Tom’s Barn, with a shade lighter used on the walls to complement it.

Westerleigh Cottage

The master bedroom’s bathroom is nothing less than sumptuous with its Very Peri walls, freestanding bath and external taps.
