Badminton Estate Open Garden Days
Badminton
Wildlife & Gardens Experience
Badminton Estate has been home to the Dukes of Beaufort since 1682 and each made enhancements to the gardens calling on some of the foremost landscape designers of the time, including Charles Bridgeman and Capability Brown. Over the centuries the garden layout has evolved, but the balance of clever design and creative gardening is still apparent.
Every year, Badminton Estate hosts a number of Open Garden Days in April, June and September, where visitors can explore the private gardens of this historic house. Admire the seasonal changing of the gardens starting with tulips in the spring through to roses and dahlias in summer. There is a great variety of plants to take in from the formal beds on the east side of the house to the South Garden with its water squares, hedges, beds and borders.
The Walled Garden is home to the Badminton House kitchen garden providing fruit and vegetables as well as cut flowers for much of the year. Visitors are also welcome to wander to Well Cottage, the home of Miranda Beaufort, and visit her beautiful cottage gardens and greenhouses. On open garden days, there are also a selection of plant and flower sellers and food and drink available from a range of stalls. Why not make a weekend of it and stay at Swangrove House on the Badminton Estate? The Open Garden Days are taking place on 21 April, 16 June and 8 September 2024.
