Fossils and Fun

Arts & Culture Experience
The Cotswolds is celebrated for its beautiful, golden limestone – it’s what the iconic Cotswold cottages all around this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are built from and probably what the cottage you stay in is made of too. If you look closely at any Cotswold stone wall or even a polished floor or shower tile, you’ll see a host of tiny fossils, maybe a seashell or two, which is pretty exciting, considering it will be about 167 million years old. But just imagine finding something bigger, perhaps the feathery arm of a sea lily or even an ammonite. If you go on a Fossils and Fun course with Cotswold National Landscape (part of Cotswold AONB) and find a fossil, you can take it home! And if you feel like turning your hand to building a dry-stone wall you can have a go at that too.
To note: Suitable for children 10 years old and above. Come dressed for the outdoors (sun, wind and rain) and wear sturdy footwear. All tools and equipment provided. No toilets on site.
