Arctic Quest Sled Dog Adventure
Tewkesbury
Active Experience
Arctic Quest was set up by Vickie Pullin, the leading female sled dog racer in the UK. She is a former member of the British Snowboard Cross Team giving her a wealth of experience. Arctic Quest is the only place in the UK that teaches the hands-on techniques of a sled dog adventure.
Based on the edge of the River Avon near Tewkesbury, this is an unexpected place to find huskies! Cared for with love and respect there are over twenty dogs at the site. When you book a full mushing experience you will meet the dogs before your training begins. Starting your experience with a less challenging route and slower dogs will significantly build your confidence. Flying through the countryside, you’ll soon build your knowledge and upgrade to faster dogs and longer routes. Bookings are for small groups giving you as much opportunity as possible to immerse yourself in the experience.
Following your racing, back at the Arctic Quest base you will have time to relax and gather around the campfire. Swapping tales and enjoying a hot drink with some mushers snacks really enhances your experience.
Add on another activity and try your hand at trout gutting and cooking around the fire after your husky sled ride. It’s as close to the true arctic experience as you can get in the UK and a day spent with the huskies is a fantastic way to spend time together on your Cotswold holiday.
Sled dog owners can bring their own pack for a musher training session. During their training you will learn more about working your dogs and the rules and regulations of the sport. Arctic Quest are the only company in the UK offering these sessions so book one of our lovely dog-friendly Cotswold cottages and give it a go during your stay. You don’t have to travel to Alaska to experience the thrills of an Arctic Quest sled dog adventure!
To note: Arctic Quest have a strict dog welfare plan which ensures that their dogs enjoy their work but also get time to just be dogs.
