Posted: Tue, 16th May 2023
Hill View Rise - Bolthole Retreats

Among our beautiful Cotswold stone cottages and grand manor houses, we have a wealth of exceptional barn conversions available for your Cotswold getaway. Each has been brought to life as a holiday home with unique touches and stunning décor. Here are some of our favourites that have something extra special to offer.

Lodge Barn, Forest of Dean

Sleeps 18 – Hot Tub – Games Room

This detached barn conversion showcases its character with open stone walls, high beamed ceilings and spectacular large windows looking across the surrounding countryside and farmland. The impressive living room takes advantage of the original size of the barn but is kept cosy with a wood-burning stove. Within the surrounding barns you will find a games room and a luxurious hot tub is tucked away in a secluded corner of the garden.

Lower Lodge Barn, Alcester

Sleeps 8 – Reverse-Living – Hot Tub

Renovated with a modern exterior, this striking barn takes a proud position at the top of a hill. The grey cladding to the front hides a magnificent interior with a wall of windows to the rear framing the rolling fields and woodland. Four bedrooms across the ground floor leave the living areas on the first floor where the views can be better appreciated. Modern industrial style beams and lighting give this barn a contemporary edge and a sunken hot tub adds a sprinkle of something extra special.

Hill View Rise, Weston Subedge

Sleeps 8 – Dutch Barn – Covered Balcony

Once a derelict Dutch barn, Hill View Rise is now a unique reverse-living holiday hideaway. The eye-catching curved roof and stilted legs create a true getaway from everyday life. The upstairs living area includes a covered balcony where you can enjoy an evening drink in front of Bredon Hill, the Malverns and the Vale of Evesham.

Middle Barn, Dyrham

Sleeps 6 – Farm Life – Original Features

Created by combining three ancient barns, Middle Barn is a stunning showcase of architectural techniques with exposed stone walls, wooden beams, high ceilings and barn doors. Set on a 500-acre farm, guests can immerse themselves in the lifestyle that goes hand in hand with staying in this rural location. You have the opportunity to meet the farm animals, go wild swimming and walk the owners’ dogs.

Stable Cottage at Freams Farm, Painswick

Sleeps 5 – Tennis Court – Cotswold Stone

Built in Cotswold stone in 1825, Stable Cottage started life as the stables to the nearby manor house. Today it has been beautifully renovated into a spacious but homely three-bed holiday home. The original exposed timber A-frame fills the roof above the open-plan living area and exposed stone walls remind you of this building’s history. Outside this cottage in the owner’s garden you have use of an all-weather tennis court!

The Loft at Kington Grange, Claverdon

Sleeps 4 – Stunning Décor – Open Beams

With a stunning interior, The Loft at Kington Grange is a fine example of what an old barn can become. Vaulted ceilings and exposed brickwork, seen in so many of our barn conversions, add an extra wow factor in the double-height living space. The luxurious main bedroom makes this a romantic retreat with floor-to-ceiling windows and a modern feature woodburner bringing a contemporary touch.

Little Coach House, Near Oxford

Sleeps 4 – Croquet Lawn – Quirky Décor

Adding personality to a farmyard barn conversion the Little Coach House has splashes of colour throughout. Exposed stone walls and wooden floors sit alongside floral wallpaper, statement furniture and unique accessories. This is a wonderful example of how each barn conversion has its own personality and can be renovated to suit any style.

The Old Barn, Crawley

Sleeps 6 – Incredible Views – Mezzanine Suite

The Old Barn is a fantastic open-plan barn conversion with stunning views over the River Windrush water meadows towards nearby Witney, that will simply take your breath away. It has been lovingly decorated in neutral tones that allow the furnishings and paintings to add that splash of colour that really warms you as you walk through the property.

Barn End, Paxford

Sleeps 6 – Lawn and Courtyard Garden – Open Beams

Barn End is a beautifully converted Cotswold stone barn that is both spacious and stylish. Full of original character and charm yet with the benefit of all the mod cons you’d expect for 21st-century living, it strikes just the right balance between old and new, with features including stone floors and exposed wooden beams thoughtfully incorporated into the modern and comfortable living spaces.

While most barn conversions keep a nod to their history with stone walls and timber frames, you can find a variety of styles and themes to suit all tastes and occasions. With all these and more to choose from, why don’t you book a barn conversion for your next Cotswold break?
