Run by a husband and wife team who are passionate about Italian cuisine and creating an authentic atmosphere in their intimate restaurant. On the menu is a selection of appetisers, cured meats, starters and pasta dishes. You will find yourselves having to choose between flavours you may not have seen before. The restaurant are happy to cater for dietary requirements and the menu is seasonal so it is worth revisiting.

The Red Lion Inn, Peterstow

A popular choice for those exploring the area, this country pub is perfectly located in Peterstow between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford. The team focus on serving great food, providing a welcome arrival from friendly staff and hosting you in a wonderful atmosphere. The chef prepares meals using local meats, fruits and vegetables and include traditional offerings of fish pie, fish and chips and home-made pie. Larger groups can book to eat together in the conservatory. There is then plenty of space to mingle outside, with a play area to keep the children entertained.

Their Sunday lunch is not to be missed and there is a great range of drinks available. The bar is dog-friendly if you are just stopping off for a refreshment en-route.


The Cider Barn, Pembridge

Sitting beside Dunkertons Cider Mill amongst rural countryside, dining at The Cider Barn is a wonderful experience. The barn is 450 years old and Grade II listed, showcasing wooden beams, an open fire and high ceilings. Surrounded by greenery you can sit out on the terrace and relax in this glorious location. The menu is ever changing, focussing on sourcing the best local produce and using this as inspiration to create exciting meals for you to enjoy. Their tasting evening events are the best way to discover the best flavours on offer here. An 8-course menu served a handful of times through the year is a wonderful experience.

If you’re looking for a location to host your event, The Cider Press nextdoor is a converted barn. Equipped with a fully stocked bar it is ready and waiting for your celebration, no whatever what the occasion.


Chapters Restaurant, Hay-on-Wye

Awarded a Michelin green star, Chapters has a focus on sustainability. Their ingredients are foraged, grown on site and they aim for zero waste. The restaurant’s walled garden is their source of vegetables, herbs, fruit and edible flowers, adding a special flourish to their dishes. Each dish shows the team’s attention to detail with impeccably displayed food. A set menu is served to ensure quality is not compromised, but on Saturdays a more informal lunch option is available.

Alongside delicious food, the service at Chapters is second to none. It is an intimate restaurant where you are warmly welcomed and looked after for the evening, nothing is too much trouble.
